Meet RATHOVGOD Tha Klass Klown

We were lucky to catch up with RATHOVGOD Tha Klass Klown recently and have shared our conversation below.

RATHOVGOD , thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I get plenty of hate, something about a guy in a clown mask rapping really draws them in. It used to bother me because I was insecure about what I was doing, and how I sounded. One of the advantages of my persona being a clown was to not take myself seriously, so I learned to apply that to the negativity and now hate just motivates me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a horror core emcee, my name is stands for Wrath of God but it’s spelled RathovGod. My songs are about Wrath and the evil in world; but narrated as of the evil doer is telling the story themselves. RATHOVGOD is based on God and Satan being the same entity embodied by man posed as a clown. The clown represents both good and evil like in history. They can be fun or downright frightening, both in fiction and reality. So I combine horror with comedy but from a perspective of this evil clown deity but with a heavy focus on technical lyricism, shock value, and punchlines for those with a twisted sense of humor.

What draws people to my vision is that I am a firm believer that these present days; music should always be accompanied with a music video. I do pixel animations, live video edits, visualizers, and in 2023 I put out a new song with a new form of video EVERY week.

I strive for every video to be over the top with the visuals and to differ from each other to some capacity or another. Often I done a lot of retro game inspired videos where the animations mimic classic video games from the 80’s and 90’s; only difference is that my videos are over the top violence, and the main character always has my clown mask but I draw it to match the games aesthetic.

Nowadays I slowed down on the videos aiming to make more challenging compositions, but readers and my followers can expect a new release on Sunday at least twice a month. Also will be doing more guest appearances and interviews on various podcasts; any viewers that seen our shows knows when I come on they are probably going to laugh at something they should be going to Hell for.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Everything from video edits, Photoshop, social media in general, I’m still learning every day. Three years ago I decided to invest in music and my Facebook went from just family and people I met in my travels, to a professional creator page all dedicated to RATHOVGOD and art made by myself as well as others.
Before doing music, I didn’t know YouTube, IG, never used any editing program,. Closest thing was Microsoft paint, but I ended up figuring things out and it definitely reflects in my art!
Aside from that the most important thing I learned is to take risks. I tried to do music with people I grew up with but they always want to rewrite or rerecord songs and took months to even get a rough mix… Just to want to redo it again. I realized they were afraid to take risks whereas I decided to just run with it and release whatever music.I felt was good. So don’t be afraid to take risks and agonize on a song or you’ll never get it out there. Even if you record your song perfectly and you think it’s your best work people may not be feeling it, however you might drop a song you like but it’s not your favorite — then everyone loves it! I’m still learning this one haha!

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Strangers to be honest. Anyone that has shared a RathovGod post or video. Anyone that has reached out and said they were inspired by a song or they were having a bad day and my video made them laugh. The people I met like NoEmotion and the Godzzz, ( a collective of top tier lyricist from all over the world) who believed in me enough to let me join the Godzzz.

When I first started I didn’t have anyone that vibed with my music except my one best friend and now we just continue to grow organically! With out the dedicated supporters throughout the year I wouldn’t have grinded as hard to make all this evil content. But you know they say, you keep giving a class clown attention, you only encourage his bad behavior!
