Meet Rava Thornton

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rava Thornton. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Rava , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?

My self care routine has been a process of development over the last several years.
In my recovery from drug addiction and alcoholism, which I suffered from and was active in for more than three decades, I have cultivated several practices that create my self care routine.
I have a breathwork practice I begin with immediately after morning prayer. I believe that my connection to something greater than me is the foundation of a healthy, happy day that leads to success. I utilize a breathwork practice called SKY (Sudarshan Kriya) I learned in a course through the Art of Living. Breathing and meditation have absolutely revolutionized my life.
Following my breathwork, I meditate for twenty minutes to center myself and quiet my mind before I get started on the day.
I usually follow that with spiritual readings, a 12 step meeting several days a week in addition to a variety of different workouts throughout the week. Movement is key to keeping my energy aligned and moving so I try to get exercise everyday.
In addition to these things I also utilize the sauna and cold plunge several times a week to detox my body and reset my nervous system.
I believe that each one of these factor into the effectiveness I experience throughout the day. I drink a lot of water, eat clean food and make a point to be of service in the world on a daily basis. Without my routine in place, there is no way I would as effective as I am today!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a reiki master with an energetic alignment practice. I help people clear stuck energy through reiki healing, chakra balancing, breathwork, meditation and trauma therapy.
The purpose of this practice is to help people align with their true desires and match the frequency of their highest calling.
Everything is energy and we attract our circumstances and experience our reality based on the frequency we exist in. We attract what we are not what we want. Your vibration determines all of this…
Through the process of clearing trauma – which gets stuck in the body and the energy field, cleansing out stagnant energy, identifying blocks and limiting beliefs that are keeping people stuck i can help people create the life of their dreams.
Breathwork and meditation are incredibly powerful healing modalities that facilitate this process.
I have so many clients who have had profound, life changing experiences in one session here. I recently took my practice full time, starting on a book project and want to reach as many people as possible to help them align with their true authentic selves.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Being open minded to new concepts and ideas, being willing to develop some discipline around self care – meditation. Meditation is key to quieting the mind which is where it all started for me.
Breathwork is the practice that made meditation possible for me.
Having a coach is so beneficial because the process can be overwhelming and raise a lot of questions through new experiences and curiousity. I can help guide people through this process.
I recently went on an Ayahuasca retreat in Costa Rica that was life changing. Very powerful trauma work!

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

If I only had a decade to live I would spend it having the best time I possibly could expanding on my practice and message to help elevate people’s consciousness. I would spend a lot of time with my partner and my daughter – enjoy every moment and make a big impact on the world. Which is what I’m doing now!
