Meet Raven Armando Astone

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Raven Armando Astone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Raven Armando below.

Raven Armando, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

I take this as an opportunity to better myself. Do you ever notice, haters and nay-sayers are like crabs in a bucket. When one crab claws his way to the top, the other crabs at the bottom will continue to pull the top crab down, trying to keep it from succeeding and crawling out of the bucket. I see myself like a creative crab who is strategic and will think outside the “bucket” and find the way out of the bucket despite competing against the other crabs working against me. Every Action has a Reaction. What haters do not realize is, they are actually helping me channel the negative words, emotions , and rumors as fuel to accomplish my goals. Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never harm me. If someone tells me I can’t achieve it?; watch me and I will achieve my goals and be the one celebrating. It’s the yin/yang- I take the negative and turn it into positive momentum to better myself just to prove them all wrong. When I achieve my goals, many haters and nay-sayers become my cheerleaders and allies, after they’ve seen what I have accomplished. I have strong faith in myself, my confidants, mentors, and god who ultimately are my teachers in my journey in life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’d love to share a bit about my journey. I was born in Perth, Australia and grew up living between Australia and Italy. So from the start, I was surrounded by different cultures, languages, and a lot of energy. Performing came naturally to me—I was the kid cracking jokes in class before I ever stepped on stage or in front of a camera.
Before acting, my world was all about movement and discipline. I’m a fourth-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a black belt in Karate, and an undefeated Muay Thai fighter. I also grew up racing motocross and playing competitive tennis and soccer. This gave me a strong physical foundation, which now feeds directly into my work on screen.
Today, I wear a few hats: I’m an actor, fight choreographer, and screenwriter. What really excites me is bringing real fighting skills into cinematic storytelling—making action feel grounded, intense, and emotionally charged. Over the years, I’ve had some pretty unique and exhilarating experiences, like performing in Las Vegas with “Thunder from Down Under” and being the campaign body double for Keanu Reeves in John Wick 3.
Right now, I’m focused on projects where I can build layered, powerful characters and deliver action that actually means something. I love blending authenticity, movement, and story—it’s where I come alive. At the end of the day, I’m not just interested in throwing punches on screen… I want to tell the story behind them.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

For me, the three biggest qualities have been 1. discipline,2. storytelling through movement, and 3. adaptability.
1. Discipline came from years of martial arts. It taught me to show up every day, train hard, and push through when things got tough. If you’re just starting out, build habits that keep you consistent—because consistency is everything.
2. Storytelling through movement is what makes my work unique. Action isn’t just about fighting; it’s about expressing emotion through the body. My advice: study how movement can tell a story. That is where real power lives.
3. Adaptability—this industry is unpredictable. I’ve gone from Live Shows around the World to International Fighting Rings to Global Film Sets. The more flexible you are, the more opportunities you’ll find. Keep learning. Stay humble and open.
In short: stay disciplined, make your craft meaningful, be to good to be denied and be ready to evolve. That’s how you build a lasting journey.
Quitters never win and Winners never quit.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I start to feel overwhelmed, I really focus on grounding myself and reconnecting to the simple things. For me, that usually means getting outside. I love walking barefoot on the beach, feeling the sand under my feet, swimming in the salt water and breathing in fresh air — it’s like hitting reset.
I’ll also hit a punching bag or play tennis to get that physical energy out. Movement helps me clear my head.
And sometimes, I’ll just do something that inspires me creatively, like going to the theater to watch a film. It reminds me why I love storytelling in the first place.
I also love gardening — there’s something powerful about putting your hands in the earth and feeling present in Mother Earth’s energy. All of those little moments help me slow down, breathe, and come back stronger.
