Meet Ray Ortega

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ray Ortega. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ray below.

Ray, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose through God.

Through every trial, God was shaping my purpose. What I saw as pain, He saw as preparation. Every setback became a setup for who I was meant to be. In the breaking, He built me. In the struggle, He showed me my strength. My purpose wasn’t found in avoiding pain—it was found in trusting God through it.

The death of my ego led to the discovery of my purpose. I found it when I began to see every part of my life as one cumulative ministry.

My career is my ministry. My relationships are my ministry. Every interaction is an opportunity to represent God—and how I handle those moments matters far more than the moments themselves.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a professional baseball coach with over a decade of experience, having worked with organizations such as the San Francisco Giants, Savannah Bananas, and even founded my own brand of baseball called “Real Baseball, Real Fun.”

I’m on a mission to rejuvenate and elevate the culture of baseball—making it more passionate, authentic, and inspiring for the next generation.

I’m also the founder of 99 CROWNS, a lifestyle brand built on the philosophy of #Godfidence—the highest form of true confidence, where our path and God’s will align with relentless faith and purpose.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Faith, family, fitness.

Faith: Trust God’s timing. Your path won’t always make sense, but faith keeps you grounded when nothing else does.

Family: Surround yourself with people who speak life into you. They’re your anchor when the world gets heavy.

Fitness: Discipline your body, and your mind will follow. Consistency in health builds consistency in everything else.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I feel overwhelmed, I start by acknowledging it instead of ignoring it. Then I organize my thoughts and create a logical plan to move forward. But I don’t stop there—I talk to God for wisdom that goes beyond my own understanding, and I pray over the situation, asking Him to bless it. Once I’ve done that, I choose to believe in victory and act with faith, knowing that God is already working things out for good.

*Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.
