We recently connected with Ray Sheehan and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ray with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
While being very young at 18 years old, some may say I defy the odds work ethic wise. Being a performing and recording musician for over Two years, people often find themselves asking “Where does all of your drive come from?” To put it simply, every day I get up with a strong hunger to win. Whether that be to practice for hours on end, upload countless social media posts, or to have a vigorous rehearsal with my band. At the end of the day I want to be the best version of myself that I can be. This is primarily due to the fact that this enhanced version will shine on the stage when I perform, and while I record in the studio. Which in return, will help me to improve overall in my craft.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Ray Sheehan is a young Jersey born musician, who is looking to blow the doors off of every venue he plays. Ray started playing solo acoustic shows for a few people in an old auction house, two years later himself and his band (Ray Sheehan and The Midnight Players), have blown the doors off of venues such as The world famous Stone Pony three times over, and are set to play again on May 18th. This time headlining the famous Sunday Showcase. Ray and his band will provide you with a soulful and driving show, that will shake you to your core. Taking the stage with his signature black fedora and Fender Stratocaster, nothing is off limits or too far.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Learning how to disappear and work hard on your craft will do nothing but help you as a musician. Causing you to not over saturate yourself amongst others, then coming back into the scene with more skills than you had previously.
If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
It is a fact indeed that not every day of life is promised. I live my life knowing that, and strive to work hard everyday. I am treating these early years of my musical career as such, I cannot afford to waste a day. Though I am hopeful to be around for many decades, if it was guaranteed that I would be gone after ten years, perhaps I would stay up later at night. I would quit activities that make me unhappy, and fully surround myself with nothing but music.
