Meet Raymond Karago

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raymond Karago. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Raymond with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My parents; they are the two most hardworking people I have ever known. Both of them started their businesses from nothing and both grew to be known figures in my town. They are also very passionate about the work they do and that passion was thankfully passed down to me.

Another person I would say is my brother; he has also has incredible work ethic and such discipline and vision. He attacks everything he does, from studying to fitness with everything he has and always strives for perfection.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well, I am an international actor, writer and producer, with a string of successful projects in both Hollywood as well as my home country of Kenya. I am writing this article having just wrapped a Christmas Feature Film, and I begin work as a lead actor on a short film next week.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Tenacity; I have faced many obstacles in my life and have never given up even though I really wanted to. I have forced myself, sometimes very reluctantly, to keep going. I would also say a sense of discipline (even though I am still working on this). Discipline forces you to do what is necessary even though you may not “feel” like it. Patience; patience is not always just sitting and waiting, it’s making the best of your time while you work for what you want, it’s preparing yourself for what you want and making the most of every moment on the way. In my opinion, with tenacity, discipline and patience, you will always find a way to succeed.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I have recently adopted the saying “This Too Shall Pass”. Whenever I find myself in a low point, and I don’t see a way out or anything positive, I just tell myself, “this too shall pass”. Nothing is permanent, and tough times don’t last, but having the endurance to remain productive and keep pushing forward will definitely help someone when trying to get out of a rough spot!
