Meet Razzaine Williams

We were lucky to catch up with Razzaine Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Razzaine, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

In 2017, I was hospitalized with MRSA, a serious bacterial infection that had spread to my blood and organs. It was one of the scariest times of my life, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it. What kept me going was the love and support of my family and friends, who encouraged me every step of the way. I also found strength within myself by focusing on the hope of getting better and imagining a future where I was healthy again. Going through that experience showed me that resilience isn’t about never struggling, it’s about finding the courage to keep going, even when things feel impossible. That’s something I’ve carried with me ever since.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m passionate about creating food and lifestyle content, and I love sharing my creativity through my own recipe website. I also enjoy doing hair and constantly pushing myself to try new things, whether it’s learning a new skill or stepping out of my comfort zone. Giving back to the community is also really important to me, and I try to make time to help others whenever I can.

Right now, I’m about to start nursing school, which is an exciting new chapter for me. One thing I love about myself is my ability to improvise and figure things out. Once I set my mind to something, I make it happen. Whether it’s through my creative projects, my community work, or my journey into healthcare, I’m always focused on growth and making a positive impact.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are perseverance, creativity, and adaptability. Perseverance helped me push through challenges, like recovering from my illness, starting my recipe website, and preparing for nursing school. Creativity has been key in my food and lifestyle content, allowing me to come up with unique ideas and share them in a way that feels authentic to me. Adaptability has also been essential. Whether I’m improvising a recipe, trying something new, or navigating unexpected challenges, being flexible has helped me grow. One piece of advice I’d give to anyone starting their journey is to stop worrying about what others think. Most people don’t see your vision the way you do, and their doubts shouldn’t hold you back. Focus on being consistent, embrace mistakes as part of the process, and be open to change, because that’s where real growth happens.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is take a step back and breathe. I try to focus on one thing at a time instead of letting everything pile up in my mind. Breaking tasks into smaller, manageable pieces helps me feel less stressed and more in control. Sometimes, I’ll write everything down to organize my thoughts or make a simple plan.

I also give myself permission to pause and do something that recharges me, like cooking, doing my hair, or just taking a walk. These small breaks help me clear my head and come back to what I need to do with a fresh perspective. One piece of advice I’d share is to not be afraid to ask for help or lean on others when you need support. And most importantly, remind yourself that it’s okay to not have it all figured out. Just take things one step at a time.
