We were lucky to catch up with Rebecca Bystrom recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, we sincerely appreciate you joining us today and agreeing to talk about some very personal topics. So, to kick things off, let’s talk about a tough one – divorce. Can you talk to us about how you overcame divorce?
I don’t know if overcoming divorce is possible? Finding peace post turbulence and settling in to adjust my perspectives. I will not be the victim in this story. I take healing myself as a day by day unfolding. Similar to an onion, you pull back layers when it “calls” – learning to re-live & realign myself in the post divorce world has peaks and valleys along with wild challenges along the way.
The honest truth & ugly reality: when there is shared placement. The imposed schedule is more like a bad infection that never gets better or allowed time to heal. Puss oozing, painful points to consider, undeniable wounding constantly cut open again & again every 9 days. It’s a cyclical cycle. At least I am still live and live to talk about it; I find myself counting my many blessings daily.
In the divorce settlement, The guardian ad litem and judge awarded Sole Legal Custody and Primary Placement to the mother (me). I received 9 days of peace, and finding flow with supporting the kids in all the ways we are available. However, we have encountered the impending day of departure and return to the dark side is always lurking around the corner. As my kids grow into their teen years, they are finding their voice, however speaking up and out may not be heard by both sides of the parent loop. Thus the chain of communications gets broken. Broken home, broken hearts. Broken trying to find peace and balance somewhere in the chaos of it all.
As I send my kids away for a short visit with their father, I remind them every time, even if they are under a different roof, the same rules apply as if they are at my home. Locations do not matter, we are always going to be one tribal unit of consciousness. The kids split for a few short days and get returned disheveled, filled with toxic words, negative mental loops and parent splatter. The fall out of divorce, the kids are the ones who witness, watch and suffer the most, they become fragments and torn. Imprinted with a split life.
I had to quickly find my ground. Learn to speak my voice and acknowledge the big feelings in the room. (elephant in the room) or (Bull in a China shop) We may be fully open & aware of the world around us, we will always be the parent that cares. With love, Mom.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My story is complex. From Near Death experience to finding myself again somewhere in my midlife crisis and leading into now. Here we are at a cross-roads. Again.
I have many projects brewing on the backside, fire pokers in the flame pit. When winter seasons hits I hang up my camera gear for the slow season, I pick up side-hustles that I am privy to and honored to be a part of; everything I do sparks joy in my heart. Passion projects are what keep me going in the day to day “mundane” and JOY moments.
2 years ago stumbled into an office,, that’s when 2 worlds and 2 minds collided. It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years already, but now that I’m in “it” – I am still floored and wowed that it just keeps getting better and better; THIS IS PHUN stuff!! Metaphysical Holistic Health Integrations. Natural, non-invasive technology that offers a drug free option for pain relief and wellbeing. Light Therapy has changed my life for the better. Before entering the office, I was a walking stew pot suffering from a lifetime of: TBI / Domestic Abuse / C-PTSD / Empathic Sponge infusion of fright flight freeze fawn and burnout. =barely existing.
I have been blessed with an opportunity to share my love of music and compounded knowledge. As a life long musician who studied all styles of music under the direction of multiple instructors, It’s safe to say I’m well versed in musical theory. Music has always been my safe place to play my heart out and feel into those big emotions. As I grew in my metaphysical understanding (practicing reiki master) I have pulled some major correlations together, combining Sound + Lights. Applying both subjects to the human body has given me a whole new perspective on “how the body works”. Rest. Reset. Renew.
Moving forward I am honoring the path that I am walking. Embody the Light is the subject and a beautiful topic to deep dive into. Life is simple and complex, we are here to learn from each other. We hold frequency keys to our past, in the form of energetics and harmonics or discord; “What’s your vibe?”. I read these codes in our healing room, utilizing crystal lights while I play my heartstrings for clients to relax and feel better. My fellow cello is the guide, we play SOL songs, specialized attunements to help our clients Rest. Reset the wheels and live with a renewed frame of mind. This has been an organic unfolding and unbelievably beautiful expression of truth for all perspectives surrounding us. I’m smitten and sometimes speechless at the natural ability in the healing process of the human body. Organically homegrown. Sound Attunements + Light Therapy it’s a heart centered collaboration, I am excited to see where we go and how we grow. “stay tuned” for more info on TellaStory In Joy Light

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Near Death Experience holds the #1 impact on my life.
From the incident itself, to the recovery post accident: re-occurring nightmare dreams, body detox; to being called crazy a-lot. Overcoming Complex PTSD and a traumatic brain injury has been my entire life line, at the end of this story: I am me, a sensitive soul who just wants to feel love, give and show love to others- all-ways. There is too much hatred going around, I try to be the bright light, giving small compliments and doing small acts of service to spark cheer for others in their day. Life is too short – SMILE.
Metaphysical Energetics – the things we do not see.
The study of energy and the human bio field. We are all walking transistor radios. What station are you on? Platform 9 and 3/4″ located on Planet Earth, this is our swimming pool, we share the same currents. I am ever evolving while working through the tree of life, clearing a path forward for my kids to exists peacefully. Organically homegrown with holistic roots and open ended choices, may we find our voices. Sharing is caring.
Watch for Signs and synchronicity
Everything in your life holds meaning for your perspective. EVERYTHING has deep meaning in your view. Keep a daily journal, add little notes of your findings, Watch for patterns, watch the numbers on the clock, tune in to the world surrounding you. That’s when you find the little treasured nuggets of good stuff. Glitter specks in the mundane chaos that keep me moving forward. Acknowledge it and say thank you for this sign. Proceed living with a big smile because you’ve got a little secret storyline. Between yourself and the divine shining light for you to follow.
The most important part of all the above:
Grounding practices are what keep you balanced as your energetic awareness opens.
Great grounding methods: Walking barefoot on natural earth, I live day to day barefoot. I take the garbage outside barefoot during Midwest winters – baby it’s cold outside!!! Being barefoot on the ice and snow is an instant ZAP back to reality. Instant grounding like a breath of fresh air through thy feet.
Other ways to ground and stay present:
– Visualization of roots into the ground
– Slow, rhythmic breathing
– Holding grounding stones (hematite, obsidian, smoky quartz if you enjoy crystals)
– Intentional body awareness (feet, legs, hips)
Grounding ensures you’re expanding safely and steadily rather than spinning out or over-identifying with new sensations. There are many ways to ground down, but it is essential to maintaining center point.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Excellent questions.
I am an overachiever and tend to go above and beyond the moon in everything I do. “go big or go home?”
Most times, I’ve been called “too much” so I learned to mute myself just a little as an attempt to fit in to the small town pocket.
I will always go all in. I don’t know any other way, or perhaps I’m still learned how to balance this aspect of myself? I am obsessed with learning new things daily. I love rabbit holes and deep seeking information. We have the world at our fingertips (thank you technology) This makes picking up a new hobby, easy. Learn from home, find a group, and keep going. Work with what you got, doing what you love. If you are not good at something you have a choice to practice, dig deeper build it up or find someone who can help you. Outsource what you struggle with, that’s part of the ongoing learning process.
I find there will always be more doors to open; dig deeper into the abyss of my eternal self. At what point do you know you are done transforming and learning ?? Perhaps we are never truly done healing until we die at the end of this life. That’s when everything will be clear again. Will we miss being earthside ? Or is it just as exciting acting and helping others thru the veil of understanding? Perhaps that is the cycle we must ride & fall to find out.
