We recently connected with Rebecca Cuje and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
My journey with self-care has looked very different over the years. When I first started to implement a self-care routine, it was very rigid and looked the same every day – 20 minutes of yoga, 20 minutes of meditation, and 20 minutes of journaling. I usually did this in the morning upon waking and had a very rigid mindset to go with it. My perfectionist tendencies wanted to keep up the consistency and I would be very harsh on myself if I fell off. Looking back now, I needed this consistency and repetition over a long period of time to instill a new habit.
Since then, I’ve gained more skills and tools to really care for myself including (but not limited to): energy healing, breathwork, somatic techniques, mantras/affirmations/paraliminals, visualizations, and contrast therapy, plus the basics: sleep, diet & exercise. With where I’m at now in my journey, I assess which forms of self-care are going to be most beneficial to my being (emotionally, mentally, spiritually, physically) and how long I’ll need each and every day. There is always some sort of morning routine (the tools and timing may differ) and I’ll lean on this different self-care practices throughout the day, as needed.
The impact that self-care has had on my effectiveness has been monumental. It’s in the moments where you’re presented a situation/challenge that when you respond differently as you would have in the past, you can take a pause and notice your growth. Those moments have shown me where I’ve done a lot of work to not get stuck in negative thought loops, unhealthy patterns, or self-sabotaging behaviors. Being able to respond differently then opened up space for more creativity, productivity, and connection in my life, leading to an ability to pursue more aligned business opportunities, relationships, and lifestyle habits.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My story is one of self-realization – which I think is ultimately what life is about, and the question, “Who am I?” is one that everyone would like to answer. The irony is that we are ever changing and so the answer can never fully be concluded.
But I attempted to get this question answered, thinking that a career coach would be able to give it to me. I not only wanted them to help me answer “Who am I?” but also “What should I do with my life?” At this time in my life, everything looked great from the outside perspective – I was working a six-figure job in one of the most iconic buildings in the world (the Empire State Building), I had a charming boyfriend who graduated from West Point Military Academy, and my travel and social life was exploding. I was trying to convince myself that this was the life I was supposed to live. But in quiet moments, the same thought kept creeping back in: “Is this all there is?”
Upon my search for that career coach, instead I found a Reiki Master Teacher who would be my mentor for the next 3 years (and I never found a career coach btw). It was my work with this teacher that helped me realize that I had not been following my intuition, or my inner guide/knowing, for most of my life. I was constantly trying to outsource, reaching for answers externally rather than allowing them be found internally (like the case with the career coach).
After working with this mentor and receiving a lot of energy healing, as well as expanding my yoga practice and working with a therapist and coach, I started to find more answers from within and slowly started shifting my life to better align with what I TRULY wanted rather than what I thought I should want or chasing some fabricated version of success. I started to feel so good that I began sharing these practices with others. This was during the pandemic, so I was guiding meditation, yoga, and Reiki circles online to people all over the country.
Now, as an Energy & Somatic Coach, I have certifications and training in various other modalities to blend energy work, somatic practices, and coaching to give a unique approach to self-realization. This combination allows my clients to not only understand their blocks intellectually but to release them physically and energetically to create long-lasting change. My work isn’t just about surface-level goals—it’s about guiding people to make shifts that transform their lives from the inside out.
My work is all about creating a safe space for healing, empowerment, and personal transformation. What I find most exciting about what I do is watching clients reconnect with their own intuition while they release limiting beliefs and start to align and take action towards their truest desires. It’s deeply rewarding to see someone experience that moment of clarity and confidence that propels them forward in life.
I’m currently focused on expanding my coaching and training offerings, including my online Reiki Trainings where I guide others on how to work with life force energy to heal themselves and others to live a more balanced, aligned, and fulfilling life.
I’m also excited about my upcoming events, like the Rage Retreat I’m hosting in January 2025 in Rancho Sante Fe, which provides a safe space for women to release repressed emotions and reclaim their power. More info can be found here: www.rageretreats.com (early bird pricing ends 12/13).
Ultimately, my brand is about creating a world where more people feel safe to express themselves fully, trust their inner wisdom, and live in alignment with their truth. For anyone seeking to make deep, lasting changes and truly connect with themselves, my work is designed to offer both guidance and genuine support every step of the way.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are self-trust, resilience, and authenticity. Developing these hasn’t always been easy, but each has shaped my growth and the work I do today.
Learning to trust my own intuition has been foundational (& why my signature program is called Trust Your Truth). Early on, I often looked outside myself for validation, which led me down paths that weren’t aligned with my true desires. My advice to increase self-trust would be to start small. Take just one small action step that’s easy to implement and in alignment with what you want. The more you practice, the stronger your inner compass will become and the easier it will be to listen to it and start making bigger decisions to get you living the life you desire.
Since starting my business and stepping into my calling, my life has been full of ups and downs, but resilience has kept me moving forward. No matter what is thrown my way, I will get back up after being knocked down. For those early in their journey, I suggest reframing setbacks/challenges/rejections as learning opportunities and truly receiving them as a reminder that growth takes time (usually more time than you want!). Use these opportunities to build strength and learn, because every step forward matters.
We live in a world where authenticity is an essential part of creating and building trust and connection – especially in business. Throughout my journey, I have shared my story openly and honestly, reminding my clients that I too am also on the path of realization and that I don’t have it all figured out. I recommend embracing your unique qualities and reframing your struggles as your way to share your gifts with the world. Often times, it is your story that matters most and someone can learn something from what you share.
For those just starting out, I’d remind you that growth is a journey, and every step you take toward self-trust, resilience, and authenticity will enrich both your path and the lives you impact.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
The clients that I work with typically have battled with perfectionism, people-pleasing tendencies, and have a fear of failure. They’re oftentimes drained and overwhelmed, feeling spread too thin with a lack of energy for self-care. This may cause low self-worth, scarcity mindset, and/or a fear of trying new things.
They desire newfound self-love and deeper connection with oneself, a sense of direction and purpose and/or structure and routine. Oftentimes, my clients are in a place of transition: craving a new job, wanting to relocate or travel, or desiring a new or different relationship. And some of the results I’ve seen have blown me away. For example, one client came to me feeling stressed, drained by her relationship and work, lacked energy for exercise, and sought perspective shifts. Through our work together, she successfully landed a new (more aligned) job, relocated across the country, entered into a new romantic relationship, and embraced a slower, more intentional lifestyle.
If any of this is resonating with you or sounding like something you want to do for yourself, first off – you are not alone. There are so many people who are also feeling lost, stuck, or drained. That was certainly me earlier on in life, too. But I’m here to tell you that having direction, feeling in flow, and being consistently energized are all possible!
Secondly, through various modalities – including (but not limited to): energy healing, somatic practices, mindset shifts, habits changes, value identification, and boundary work – we can move you towards your desires. Whether that be deepened self-trust, improved relationships, a new lifestyle, or expanded visions and goals, you will start living your life by design rather than by default.
Please reach out to explore working together. I’m here for you and would be honored to coach you.
