Meet Rebecca Dumervil

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Dumervil a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rebecca, we can’t begin to explain how much we appreciate you sharing about your PPD experience, but we can say that so many in our community are suffering from or have suffered from postpartum issues including postpartum depression and so you sharing your story and how you overcame it might help someone who is going through it right now or in the future. What can you share with us about how you overcame PPD? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.

I love this question because it speaks to strength, resilience, and transformation. Overcoming postpartum depression was one of the hardest battles I’ve ever faced, but it also shaped me into the woman I am today, stronger, more self-aware, and more determined than ever.

At first, I didn’t even recognize myself. I had just brought life into the world, but inside, I felt empty. The joy I thought I’d feel was overshadowed by exhaustion, doubt, and a sense of isolation I couldn’t shake. I questioned everything. I’d think to myself was I a good mother? Was I doing this right? Would I ever feel like myself again?

What saved me wasn’t just one thing but a combination of decisions, support, and mindset shifts.

I began to speak up and be transparent. The hardest but most important step was admitting that I was struggling. I stopped pretending to have it all together and confided in someone I trusted. That conversation opened the door to healing. The more i spoke on what i felt the more i began to accept my life and the journey.

I started asking for help. I used to believe that asking for help was a sign of weakness or a burden to others, but I learned that it’s actually a sign of strength. Whether it was leaning on family, talking to a therapist, or seeking out a support group, I realized I didn’t have to do it alone.

I put my health first – Sleep deprivation and poor nutrition were making everything worse. I started taking better care of myself—eating well, moving my body, and resting when I could. A healthy body helped me build a healthier mind.

I Found Purpose Beyond Motherhood – As much as I love being a mother, I had to remember that I was still me. I started pouring energy into my passions—my business, my goals, my personal growth. Having something that reminded me of who I was before motherhood helped me find balance.

I Gave Myself Grace – Healing wasn’t linear. Some days were better than others, but I learned to be kind to myself. Instead of focusing on what I wasn’t doing, I started celebrating the small wins—getting out of bed, taking a shower, making it through the day. Progress is progress.

Coming out on the other side of postpartum depression didn’t just make me stronger—it made me more compassionate, more driven, and more grateful. It taught me that challenges don’t define us, but how we respond to them does.

If you’re going through it, know this: You are not alone. You are not failing. And you will come out stronger.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a proud mother of three, a beauty entrepreneur, and the founder of a tax business dedicated to helping beauty professionals lower their tax liability and build financial stability. My journey into entrepreneurship isn’t just about passion—it is about creating a legacy, breaking generational cycles, and empowering others in the beauty industry to thrive.

In my beauty business, Becca’s Beautique, I specialize in makeup artistry, helping clients look and feel their best. What excites me the most is not just the transformation on the outside, but the confidence that radiates from within when someone sees themselves in a new light. Beauty is more than skin deep—it’s a form of self-expression and empowerment.

Through my tax business, Divergent Consulting, I’ve combined my expertise in finance with my love for the beauty industry. I know firsthand how hard beauty professionals work, yet many struggle with taxes, deductions, and financial planning. My mission is to educate, support, and provide strategies that help beauty entrepreneurs keep more of their hard-earned money, scale their businesses, and build wealth.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my impact—offering more resources, workshops, and one-on-one consultations to beauty professionals who want to take control of their finances. I’m also working on beauty seminars and launching my own skincare and makeup products.

Ultimately, everything I do is rooted in empowerment—whether it’s through beauty or business. My goal is to help others step into their full potential, whether that’s by enhancing their outer glow or securing their financial future.

I’d love to connect with other ambitious beauty professionals and entrepreneurs who are ready to level up. Let’s grow together!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three key qualities and skills played a major role in my journey: resilience, financial literacy, and networking. Each one shaped my ability to build and grow my businesses while balancing motherhood.

1. Resilience – The Power to Keep Going
Entrepreneurship is full of highs and lows. There were times I felt overwhelmed, especially juggling business and family, but resilience kept me moving forward. I learned to embrace failure as part of the process rather than a sign to quit.

My advice to beginners would be to develop a strong “why”—your purpose will keep you grounded when challenges arise. Surround yourself with mentors and a supportive network who remind you that setbacks are temporary. Adopt a growth mindset—every challenge is an opportunity to learn.

2. Financial Literacy – The Key to Wealth Building
One of the biggest game-changers in my journey was learning how to manage money, especially as a business owner. Many beauty professionals are passionate about their craft but struggle with pricing, taxes, and business finances. Understanding taxes and financial planning not only helped me build wealth but also allowed me to help others do the same through my tax business.

My advice to beginners is to learn the basics of taxes, business expenses, and budgeting early on—it will save you thousands in the long run. Get comfortable with pricing yourself for profit instead of just covering costs. Invest in financial education—take courses, read books, or find a mentor who understands business finances.

3. Networking – Building the Right Connections
Success isn’t just about what you know—it’s also about who you know. Networking opened doors for me that I couldn’t have accessed alone. Whether it was meeting mentors, finding business collaborations, or gaining referrals, building relationships helped my businesses grow faster.

The advice i would give to beginners is be intentional about networking—attend industry events, join business groups, and connect with like-minded entrepreneurs. Give before you ask—build genuine relationships by offering value before expecting anything in return. Leverage social media—networking isn’t just in person. Engaging with people online can lead to new opportunities and clients.

For anyone just starting out, be patient, invest in yourself, and take action even when it’s scary. The journey won’t always be easy, but the rewards of financial freedom, impact, and personal growth make it worth it.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal clients varies from busy entrepreneurs, business owners, and future brides who value quality, exclusivity, and expertise when it comes to beauty and financial strategy. They understand that premium services come with a high level of skill, attention to detail, and a luxury experience. They are willing to invest in themselves and desire personalized experiences.

My clients choose me because I provide more than just a service—I deliver an elite experience, expertise, and results. Whether it’s luxury beauty transformations or high-level tax strategies for beauty entrepreneurs, my clients trust me to handle their needs with precision and professionalism.
