We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rebecca Fellenbaum a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rebecca, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
When I slowed down my purpose revealed itself. This took me nearly 40 years. Today, my purpose as a life coach is to bring healing to fellow moms who feel lost, guiding them to love themselves, take ownership of their lives, and experience deep connections. Finding my purpose was not a linear journey. For most of my life I wasn’t even seeking my true purpose. I was living on autopilot. I had built a seemingly perfect life. I had a husband, two kids, a career, a dog, a nice house in the suburbs, close family, friends I cared about, a social life, and hobbies and interests. I am healthy and educated and have enjoyed lots of travel and checked off many bucket list items. It was all there on paper. And I mostly enjoyed it. But beneath the surface, there were cracks in my relationships and within myself. I remember in my 20s right around when my husband and I were getting married and he called me out for letting my anxiety and rage come out sideways over seemingly silly stuff. There was ugliness going on under the surface.
It took almost another 15 years but when the challenges of parenting and the onset of COVID hit, I was overtaken with dark feelings. The cracks got too wide to step over. It was then that I began a transformative journey. Daily walks and listening to The Adult Chair® podcast unlocked something deep within me. I slowed down enough to hear my heart’s whispers and my intuition’s calling. I aligned enough to meet my higher self and connect with my guides, source, and the universal truth. That is how I found her, this purpose of mine. Over the past four years, I learned to embrace love, vulnerability, and navigate the darker corners of my mind. Through taking control of my thoughts and choosing those that propel me forward, I became a different person.
A pivotal moment came when the thought “go for it” resonated within me. I actively pursued becoming a Certified Adult Chair® Coach. The actions, the steps I took to become a coach and step into my new life, that came naturally once I slowed down and followed my illuminated path. Now, I am falling in love with coaching every day, living my dream, and manifesting my purpose.
I found my purpose by slowing down, listening to my heart’s whispers, and heeding the advice my soul was urging me to take. It has been a journey of self-discovery, transformation, and embracing the calling of my soul. That anger and rage my 27-year-old had is mostly gone. The perfect-looking life I build looks mostly the same from the outside, but inside I am experiencing it in a completely new way.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that were most impactful on my journey were 1. Slow down and turn inwards, 2. Get curious, 3. Do the next right thing. If you are wondering how to enjoy your life more fully, I recommend that you start asking yourself what you need. The answers are within if you dare to listen. This can be done through journaling, meditation, spending time in nature, deep conversations with friends, and even working with a coach or other professional.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
The clients I work with tend to be struggling with overwhelm, lack of boundaries, and feelings of dissatisfaction and disconnection. They wake up with dread, they are exhausted about all the things on their plates, they are stressed out and not able to connect with others the way they want to. They feel a tug to do something differently but often don’t know how to make the necessary changes. They are often seekers and have tried many different self-care and self-help techniques before they find me. I love all of my clients and know that wherever they are in life when we connect, it is the right time.
