We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rebecca Kane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rebecca below.
Rebecca, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
When I was twenty-six years old, doctors diagnosed me with a fast-growing ovarian cancer. To be honest, I wasn’t surprised; I knew something was wrong the minute my period starting acting wonky. In fact, I knew I had cancer before anyone even examined me. Intuition is funny like that. The demographics for ovarian cancer show that the illness usually strikes women who are sixty-three and older so my diagnosis had doctors scratching their heads. There I was, a spry and active twenty-six year old, yet I was living with a tumor the size of a Thanksgiving turkey making me look like I was four months pregnant. I remember the doctors being kind, but also admittedly terrified for me. For some reason, I remember not being afraid. I *knew* I was going to be okay. Again, intuition is funny like that. I was so confident that I was going to have a full recovery that I said no to a full hysterectomy—agreeing only to the removal of the cancerous ovary. I also said no to a full year of chemotherapy and did three sessions before I got myself out of there. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this event was the opening of my psychic skills. My intuition was so strong and so clear that I would go into every appointment and every procedure full of sunshine. I joked around with the doctors, the nurses, the assistants. I knew that the cancer was at least partially related to how miserable I’d felt in my life and I saw this moment as a wake up call. I needed to change. Optimism made me feel better. Optimism made the really challenging parts of the surgery, the chemo, the endless uncomfortable examinations, and the seemingly never ending medical bills more manageable. I knew that cancer meant I had to change my life—so I did. I got out of my relationship. I got a new job. I moved. I focused on myself and my own care. I dove into energy work and personal growth. And I did my best to laugh and be happy as often as I could. I knew I was going to be okay. I knew I’d gotten another chance to really live. I’ve never forgotten that.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a psychic medium, a multidimensional healer, and a holistic spiritual coach. I work specifically with women between the ages of 35-55, who are energy sensitive, spiritually connected, high achievers. Often these women were parentified at an early age—they are the eldest children, they helped raise their siblings or, if they were an only child, they were expected to meet their parents every expectation. They’re exhausted from trying to keep it together for everyone else and they’re ready to put the spotlight back on them, their life, their dreams, their goals. Many of these women come to me because they are on the precipice of a big life change: they want to decide whether to leave their marriage or not, or they want to decide whether to leave their corporate job and start a business or not, or whether to completely uproot their life and change everything. Either way, they know that the traditional path isn’t working for them any longer and they’re ready to do the deep healing work. My role with them is all about helping them to lean deeply into their intuition and make strong decisions for themselves about their life. My work as a psychic medium is to help these women with guidance from their spirit team, as a healer to help clear the stuck emotions that keep them from feeling deeply worthy and deserving of whatever big goal they’re pursuing, and as a coach to guide them through the powerful transformation process that brings it all together.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me the number one thing that’s helped me along my business and spiritual journey is integrity. In my opinion, integrity means not just being truthful and showing up to do what you say you’re going to do, but also being in integrity with your soul’s path. When I started doing this work five years ago, I realized that spirit was now my boss and guide. I started tuning into spirit regularly asking direction for pricing and packages. I would tune in about opportunities that were offered to me. I felt very much like in order for me to do a good job, I needed everything to line up. I still operate that way and I think because of that, when people meet me, they often say they trust me immediately. There’s a solidity that people can feel when you’re in alignment with yourself and with spirit; I feel very grateful that I got that message after I realized I was a medium. Secondly, I would say consistency and wow, the discipline connected to consistency felt so tricky to put into practice. It’s hard to show up day in and day out and BE consistent, especially if you’re an entrepreneur who loves freedom. But after a while, I realized that consistency allowed for freedom. It also built integrity and trust with my community in ways that I really wanted to foster. I strive to be someone who people can depend on inside and outside of my business. It was consistently meditating for over 300+ days that helped me realize my psychic abilities. It was through that consisten practice that I learned the magic of showing up. And the third thing that’s been helping me in my life and business would be detachment. When I realized that I needed to detach from either a supposedly bad OR good outcome, I could show up and be of service in an energetically clean way. If I was vibrating at a frequency of desperation or neediness, I believe it energetically altered a conversation I had with a prospective client—and that felt awful. With detachment, I know that my job is to show up and be of service in the highest way possible, trusting that the person I’m working with is walking their own path on their own timeline. Detachment has both brought down my stress and helped me to be a healthier business owner in a number of ways.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for referral partners. My work is not therapy, but it is definitely therapeutic. I love partnering with therapists who are open to alternative healing practitioners because it is such a great compliment to therapy. I also love working with other folks in the healing arts (chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, NAET practitioners) who have an intuitive sense for when their client(s) may need support on the subconscious level. I am currently building up a roster of practitioners that I can send my clients to for the health and wellness needs that are outside of my scope. The best way to connect with me is via email: rebecca@capacityforgreatness.com and we can set up a time to chat.
