Meet Rebecka Jean-Baptiste

We recently connected with Rebecka Jean-Baptiste and have shared our conversation below.

Rebecka , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Navigating the beauty industry, spiritual spaces, and entrepreneurial life, I’ve often found myself as “the only one in the room.” Whether it was bridal glam in luxury spaces, working with clients, or collaboration meetings where no one shared my story — I learned early on that presence isn’t about blending in. It’s about belonging to myself first.

I had to become fluent in holding my softness as a strength. When I walk into rooms where my voice, my tone, or even my aesthetics are different, I anchor myself in purpose. I remind myself I carry generations of wisdom, and every time I speak, I’m speaking for the women who never got the mic.

What has made me effective is compassion. What has made me successful is conviction. I’ve learned to lead not just with confidence but with clarity and care seeing my difference as a gift, not a gap. I don’t shrink in those rooms. I glow because I know I was sent to shift atmospheres, not survive them.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Rebecka J., and I’m a makeup artist and content creator passionate about helping others feel radiant, empowered, and seen. I specialize in bridal makeup artistry, offering customized, on-location glam that blends artistry with soul because beauty is more than a look, it’s an energy.

What excites me most about my work is the transformation I witness, not just physically but emotionally. Especially with brides, there’s this sacred moment where they see themselves in full glam and light up with confidence and grace that moment is everything to me. It’s not just about makeup it’s about creating space for celebration, intention, and joy for them to leave with a smile internally and externally.

Alongside my work as a bridal MUA, I also create beauty-based digital content, sharing makeup looks, tutorials, and glimpses into the journey of being a woman and artist. I’m passionate about storytelling and showing my creativity that beauty is both powerful and personal.

Looking ahead, I’m in the process of expanding my brand, not just in scale but in cultural reach — I’m intentionally seeking to work with more diverse skin tones, cultural traditions, and wedding styles. Fall 2025 bookings for bridal makeup are now open, and I’m planning to offer more destination and multicultural wedding services. I’m also building a new visual portfolio and may soon offer virtual bridal consultations and beauty prep guides for brides around the world. I’ve also launched an e-book designed specifically for content creators and aspiring UGC talent, offering guidance on building brand relationships, authentic storytelling, and monetizing creativity. Whether I’m glamming a bride or helping another creator step into their digital power, everything I do is about celebrating beauty with purpose and presence. And truthfully I’m just getting started.

I want people to know that I bring both technical artistry and emotional intention into every experience. Whether it’s a wedding day, photoshoot, or content piece, I’m always creating from the heart and I’m just getting started and this is the journey that warms my soul.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Resilience helped me keep going when things got quiet when bookings slowed down, when comparison crept in, or when I had to rebuild after disappointments. I learned how to keep showing up for myself, even when no one else could see the vision yet.

Intuition guided me more than any blueprint ever could. Whether it was knowing which opportunities to take, which clients were aligned, or even how to translate someone’s story into their glam trusting my gut has led to my most aligned work.

Adaptability has kept me evolving. As beauty trends shift, algorithms change, and the industry grows, I’ve learned to pivot without losing my essence. I stay open to growth.

My advice to anyone early on: Be consistent before you feel confident. Your skills will sharpen, your voice will get clearer, and the right people will find you. Don’t wait to be perfect just be present, & let your passion carry you through the parts that feel uncertain. Stay true, stay teachable, and always keep your heart in the work.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m always open to collaborating with others who value creativity, storytelling, and social impact. I love connecting with fellow makeup artists, stylists, photographers, event planners, and content creators who share a passion for elevating beauty across diverse cultures and communities.

I’m especially interested in collaborating on bridal/editorial shoots, destination weddings, beauty campaigns, travel and content creation projects. I also welcome partnerships with brands looking to authentically reach beauty and lifestyle audiences allowing me to curate my creativity without being placed in a box through UGC (User-Generated Content).
