We recently connected with Rebekah Jarvey and have shared our conversation below.
Rebekah, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem through a strong sense of identity as an Indigenous woman. Embracing my heritage has been central to my journey, and it shines through in how I present myself. Wearing clothes designed by Indigenous designers make me feel powerful and proud. It’s not just about the clothes—it’s the stories they carry and the strength they represent. Having good hair and makeup complements that confidence, allowing me to feel fully put together and ready for the fashion industry. For me, it’s about celebrating who I am, inside and out.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am Rebekah Jarvey, an international designer, Fashion Show Director, and model deeply rooted in my Chippewa, Cree, and Blackfeet heritage. My work celebrates Indigenous fashion through designing, producing, and modeling, with highlights including showcases at Paris and New York Fashion Weeks this year. I’m passionate about amplifying Indigenous stories through bold collections like my *NEO* line, which draws from my family’s generational beadwork traditions. With 24 fashion shows under my belt this year alone, my focus remains on elevating Indigenous representation and pushing boundaries in the fashion world.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that had the greatest impact on my journey were hard work, being a people person, and being social. Hard work helped me push through challenges and refine my craft, while being a people person and social opened doors to spaces and opportunities I never imagined, putting me at tables where I could share my vision. My advice to those early in their journey is simple: don’t shy away from putting in the effort to master your skills, and focus on building genuine connections. Relationships are just as important as talent in opening doors and creating lasting opportunities.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instilling values that shaped who I am today. My mother taught me about our traditions and culture, passing down the knowledge of beading and sewing that I now carry forward in my work. My father, with his cheerful personality and ability to connect with others, showed me the power of being a people person. Together, they gave me the tools to embrace my heritage and navigate the world with confidence and positivity.
