We recently connected with Rebekah Laur’en and have shared our conversation below.
Rebekah, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome by fully stepping into ownership of who I am. I had to do some deep healing around self-love and self-worth, and once I started embracing my happiness and recognizing the value I bring into every room, everything shifted. I stopped downplaying my talent and started believing, truly believing that I am that girl.
One thing that helped me was creating a daily habit of owning my work. After finishing a song, I would pause and say to myself, “I made that. And it’s good.” That simple acknowledgment became a powerful reminder of my capability. Confidence is truly transformational.
Affirmations and daily declarations also played a big role in my journey. I spoke life over myself, even on the days I didn’t fully feel it and over time, those words began to take root and bloom. You truly become what you speak and believe.
As I grew more grounded in my self-belief, I stopped operating from fear and started moving with boldness. The moment I started showing up for myself the way I show up for others, everything changed. And when you do that, imposter syndrome loses its power.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As an independent singer, songwriter, producer, and composer, I create music with intention. Sounds that speak to the soul, stir emotion, and tell real stories. What I love most about what I do is the freedom to fully express myself, to build entire worlds through melody and lyric, and to connect with people on a deeper, energetic level. Every song I make is a reflection of my journey, my growth, and my passion for empowering others through sound.
One of the most exciting things happening right now is the release of my new single, “Elevate.” This track is pure energy. It’s high-vibe, liberating, and designed to make you move. It’s the kind of song that lifts your spirit the moment you hear it. The beat hits, and suddenly you’re dancing, smiling, and forgetting your worries. “Elevate” is about freedom, joy, and getting lost in the music. It’s a celebration of life and letting yourself rise above the noise.
There’s so much more coming! I’m working on new music that dives even deeper into sound, soul, and storytelling. This is a new era creatively, and I’m just getting started. I want listeners to feel empowered, free, and elevated because that’s the energy I’m creating from, and that’s what I’m here to share.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, self-awareness, and creative independence.
Resilience has carried me through the ups and downs of this path. The music industry and the creative process itself can be unpredictable, and rejection or setbacks are part of the deal. But choosing to keep going, to trust the vision even when things get hard, is what’s allowed me to grow and evolve as an artist.
Self-awareness has been crucial. Knowing who I am, what I stand for, and what I want to express in my art has helped me stay grounded. It’s easy to get distracted by trends or comparison, but when you’re anchored in your truth, your work becomes magnetic, it resonates because it’s real.
And then there’s creative independence. From the beginning, I knew that learning to write, produce, and compose for myself would open doors but it’s opened far more than I ever imagined. It’s given me complete freedom to shape my sound and tell my story exactly the way I envision it, without having to wait for permission or rely on anyone else to bring it to life. Taking a feeling and transforming it into a fully realized song is one of the most powerful things I’ve ever experienced. It’s not just a skill it’s a form of liberation, and it’s allowed me to build something that’s truly my own.
For anyone just starting their journey, my advice is this: don’t be afraid to take your time developing who you are. Invest in learning your craft, whether that’s songwriting, production, vocal technique, or storytelling. Stay curious, stay open, and give yourself grace as you grow. Also, protect your energy and your vision. You don’t have to fit into every space; create the one that feels like home.
Most importantly, never underestimate the power of consistency and belief. Your voice, your art, your presence, it all matters more than you know.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is pause and take a few deep breaths to center myself. I remind myself, “I’ve got this.” If it’s in front of me, then I must be capable of handling it. I also lean into my meditation practice. It’s helped me recognize that feeling overwhelmed is often a sign that I’m not grounded or that I’ve lost sight of something important. That awareness alone helps me regroup. The key is creating space to realign with your power, not the pressure.
