We were lucky to catch up with Regan Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Regan, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Life as a military wife, mother of three, actress, and YouTube creator is full of challenges. Balancing family, career, and personal passions can be overwhelming, but I’ve learned to lean on three key pillars: family, friendships and faith. My husband’s unwavering support and the love of our children keep me grounded, while my sister provides perspective and reminds me to stay true to myself. Their presence motivates me to push through life’s toughest moments.
The Hollywood Winner’s Circle Business Academy has been another essential source of support. This community of friends and mentors has fueled my growth and success. Wendy Alane Wright, the founder, has created a thriving space for actors and has become one of my biggest cheerleaders. Amber Blake, head of PixNClips, has taught me about filmmaking, while Sean Miguel Perez of Q&Agent has transformed my mindset. Working one-on-one with actor Rodney Rowland has pushed me to elevate my craft and work ethic. Their influence has been life-changing, and I owe much of my success to them.
And yes, being a redhead plays into this journey too! I was teased about being stubborn, but I’ve come to embrace that trait as a strength. My persistence has helped me overcome obstacles, and in a way, my redhead resilience has become my secret weapon. With my family, faith, and friends backing me, I’m ready for whatever comes my way.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Life has been a whirlwind lately, but I couldn’t be more excited about the projects I’m working on and the direction my career is heading. At the moment, my family and I are in the midst of relocating to Augusta, GA, for a PCS (Permanent Change of Station), which, for us, means leaving behind the last three years in Tennessee. While Tennessee has been educational and a wonderful chapter for our family, it’s time to move on. My husband’s incredible support is the reason Augusta was chosen—he made it a point to be stationed closer to Atlanta to support my career. Being geographically closer to the heart of the film industry means easier access to auditions and more opportunities to collaborate with my friend and fellow filmmaker Amber Blake of PixNClips. In fact, we have four projects in pre-production, and I can’t wait to see them come to life!
Even with all the chaos of moving, my schedule hasn’t slowed down. I’m packing boxes while continuing my education with Rodney Rowland, attending his coaching sessions every two weeks. On top of that, I still participate in Wendy Alane Wright’s Hollywood Winner’s Circle Academy classes weekly, learning all I can about the business of show business. My passion for acting and filmmaking drives me, but no matter how busy things get, I always make time for my family. I help my children with their homework and make sure to catch a nightly show with my husband when we can. Maintaining those daily connections is so important to me, and they keep me grounded amidst the craziness.
And of course, I’m still committed to building my YouTube channel, Reading With Regan. Every Friday, I post a new children’s story, and for October, I’ve been focusing on spooky tales to get everyone into the Halloween spirit! It’s been a balancing act, but I thrive on this kind of energy. While there’s a lot going on, I know I’m exactly where I need to be, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about the exciting opportunities ahead.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think my resilience was really shaped by being a military spouse. You get used to the “hurry-up-and-wait” routine and the constant changes in plans. It’s part of the life—patience becomes essential, especially when the plans you’ve been working on for years can shift in a moment. But I’d say my stubbornness has helped just as much. I’ve had people, who really have no experience in the industry, tell me I wouldn’t make it as an actor. That stubborn streak has kept me going in those moments.
At the same time, I’ve learned the importance of humility. It wasn’t always easy, but over time I realized the value of accepting advice from experienced professionals. That’s been a huge part of my growth in this industry. If I could offer any advice to someone chasing success, it’s something I tell my own kids: find the person who’s the best at what you want to do, and follow their path as closely as you can. And never stop learning—never be the smartest person in the room. Keep educating yourself, learn something new from everyone you meet, read books, and surround yourself with successful, encouraging people.
What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
In our family, we place a strong emphasis on self-love, but we also believe in the importance of consistent growth and self-improvement. I’m proud of my extroverted nature and creativity, especially in my work, but I’ve learned that those traits can only take you so far in show business. To really succeed, you need to be educated by people who understand the industry inside and out—those who know how casting works, what strategies go into filming and editing, and why your physical and mental health are crucial to becoming a better creator.
For example, despite the disruption caused by Hurricane Helene, which threw a wrench in our moving and filmmaking plans, I decided to start a workout routine with my husband. I might not reach my fitness goals overnight, but the decision to get up at 6 a.m. for a run is something I can control in a world that often feels out of control. That sense of agency motivates me. I believe that investing time in myself, improving my health, and becoming more well-rounded ultimately makes me better in my career and in life.
