We were lucky to catch up with Regan Steinert recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Regan, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
With my past in struggling with mental health, self worth issues and addiction, I found myself in a very dark place with little to no hope. I was put into an adolescent recovery program and multiple types of therapy and support groups at the age of 17. It took a lot of hard work but eventually I found light at the end of the tunnel. I was finally able to love myself and have gratitude for the people and things in my life. Going through these difficult times made me realize how much I hated seeing those around me struggling without being able to find a way out. I became dedicated to helping others heal and find happiness because I couldn’t stand the thought of anyone feeling as low and worthless as I once did.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a part owner of The Mind Connection with my mom, Janelle Martin. Our practice is a brain health center! Every service we provide is catered to mental health/brain health and achieving that in the most natural ways. We use MicroCurrent Neurofeedback, a non invasive, painless treatment that is safe for all ages. It helps restore and rebalance the brain in a natural way without the use of toxins like medication. We also offer Brainspotting Therapy and Counseling as add one to the Microcurrent, for those who are seeking help from traumatic events. We find pairing these two modalities allows for our clients to receive the best, most effective results.
We are also super excited to announce that we are adding Creyos brain function testing to allow a visual for clients to see how their brains are improving throughout their MCN Therapy. Along with finishing a Brain Health Professional Certification where we can now provide in depth assessments for things such as ADD, depression, anxiety etc and help people find natural supplements to help instead of turning to toxic medications.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey would be the practice of showing unconditional love to others and myself. Knowing that “failure” allows for the most growing and learning opportunities. Lastly, always remembering to take time for myself to make sure my needs are met and I am in good health.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed I will start by taking a step back from everything on my plate and seeing what I can do for self care in that moment. Whether that be taking a bath, reading a book, doing something nice for a loved one, or just playing with my dogs. Once I feel I am able to calm down, I will write out a list of all the things I have to do that are overwhelming me. I will rate those things on a scale from how urgent to not that task may be. When I get my list in order, I will start with the most urgent task and forget about the rest until it is completed and continue to work my way down my list. This is very helpful for me, as I stop feeling as if I have a million things on my plate to get done all at once.
