Meet Reggie Lewis

We were lucky to catch up with Reggie Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.

Reggie, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my love for storytelling and making people smile. I find joy when I see my words come to life on stage. It’s all about staying motivated and never giving up on my passion and dreams. I’ve learned to cope with the hardships in my past by “telling the story “Hoping it will help someone else that may have experienced some of the same things I’ve experienced.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello, I’m Reggie Lewis, owner and visionary of RLL Productions, LLC. My mission with RLL Productions, LLC is to deliver powerful entertainment and a positive message through music, television, film and T.V, that is innovative, creative, informative, fun, and entertainment, for yesterday’s generation, today’s generation, and generations to come. We thrive to lift every spirit of those that are disadvantaged, downhearted, and all those seeking another level of enlightenment. Delivering real life circumstances, and a message of empowerment, spirit and love to inspire and encourage people all over the world, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, religious views, and styles of life. My ultimate mission and vision will be to establish a studio/theatre for Fine Arts and entertainment, which will house theatrical plays, comedic relief, poetry, and musical talents of all genres. RLL Productions will educate through teaching and training for theatrical plays, television pilots, and Broadway performances. Delivering stories of those individuals that just “need to be heard”, and give every individual with aspirations, an opportunity to live out their lifelong/and newly discovered dreams. Our overall goal is to provide a platform, not only to fulfill dreams, but to also provide employment opportunities throughout the community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that were most impactful to me were: 1. Having tough skin – Knowing that everyone will not support you, at first. Sometimes if your skin isn’t tough, that can discourage you and cause one to give up on their dreams. In this day and age, sometimes you have to prove yourself relevant. 2. Having confidence in yourself and your product. 3. Being able to accept every “No” until that one YES. You’ll never make it to your destination making pit stops. Stay focused and stay the course. Even with the GPS system if it detects an accident or stalled traffic, it will automatically re-route you so that you don’t have to sit dormant, but you can KEEP MOVING. And you will still make it to your purposed place on time.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My immediate family as well as my cast family and friends has played a very intricate role in helping me overcome challenges by encouraging me to never quit and to keep going. They keep me grounded and remind me daily of the “WHY” I do what I do. This is not only therapeutic for other people, but it’s also therapy for myself.
