We were lucky to catch up with Regina Hutt recently and have shared our conversation below.
Regina , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a life shaped by challenges.
From a young age, I had to navigate obstacles that many don’t face until much later in life. Each setback became fuel—a driving force pushing me to rise above, to grow stronger, and to strive for something greater within myself. I refused to let circumstances define me. Watching others around me struggle without the same inner strength only deepened my determination to keep evolving, keep learning, and never give up. Resilience, for me, isn’t just about surviving—it’s about transforming every challenge into purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Owner of Sage Hill Barbershop | Founder of Sacred Healing MBS
Master Cosmetologist • Wellness Lifestyle Consultant • Holistic Educator • 3x Author • Community Advocate
With 25 years of experience as a Master Cosmetologist and 13 years as the owner of Sage Hill Barbershop, I’ve created more than just a grooming space—I’ve built a safe, healing environment where clients receive education on scalp care, skin health, and hair restoration. But more importantly, they’re reminded of their worth. At Sage Hill, mental health is just as important as physical appearance. I believe every person should walk out not only with a fresh cut, but with a renewed mind and spirit.
My journey led me to birth Sacred Healing MBS—Mind • Body • Soul, a holistic wellness practice that grew out of personal trials and spiritual transformation. The deeper the affliction, the greater the wisdom I gained—not just to heal myself, but to pour into others. With over 25 years of clinical medical knowledge and 13 years in holistic health, I now merge science with a holistic approach to help clients restore balance naturally.
As a Wellness Lifestyle Consultant, herbal educator, and speaker, I design healing experiences that honor the whole person—physically, mentally, and spiritually. My work extends into authorship as well. As a three-time author, my books center on themes of overcoming adversity, healing from within, and transforming pain into purpose.
Whether I’m behind the barber’s chair or leading a wellness workshop, my mission is the same: to serve, to heal, and to empower others to thrive—authentically and abundantly.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As I look back on my journey and where it all began, one thing remains clear: I never gave up.
Persistence and determination became my greatest assets. I honed my skills with intention, pursued education relentlessly, and always sought new knowledge to grow—personally, professionally, and spiritually.
My voice has always echoed one core message: believe in yourself.
To anyone walking the path of entrepreneurship, know this—it’s not easy. There will be obstacles, setbacks, and seasons of doubt. But if you hold on to your vision, write it down, and move with strategy and purpose, you’ll rise above the challenges.
One principle I live by is:
“Proper preparation prevents poor performance.”
So prepare, plan, and most importantly, trust that what’s in you is greater than what’s in front of you.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Without question, it’s been my faith.
My faith has been the foundation of everything I’ve overcome and accomplished. In moments when I didn’t have the answers, the strength, or the resources, it was my faith that carried me. It reminded me of who I am and what I’m capable of—even when circumstances said otherwise.
Faith gave me vision, discipline, and resilience. It taught me how to stand firm in adversity, how to keep growing when things felt stagnant, and how to trust the process. Without it, I wouldn’t be the woman, the entrepreneur, or the healer I am today.
