Meet Remus Ionescu

We recently connected with Remus Ionescu and have shared our conversation below.

Remus, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

At our workshop, we use a unique blend of practices and habits to keep creativity thriving. By asking questions, exploring the “why,” and embracing new ideas, we foster an environment where inspiration flows freely and collaboration flourishes. Engaging with diverse creative content gives us fresh perspectives and sparks new interests, fueling our creativity. Our commitment to continuous learning and experimenting with innovative materials and tools ensures our work remains distinct and original.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As the co-founder and craftsman behind Brass Wolf Workshop, we are dedicated to creating unique home decor and furniture that blend different eras and tell stories. Each piece is designed and handcrafted in Denver, ensuring the highest quality and a personal touch that makes each item truly one-of-a-kind.

One of the most exciting aspects of my work is the ability to transform raw materials into functional art. The process of blending different eras and styles allows us to create pieces that not only serve a purpose but also spark conversation and add character to any space. Each item we craft has a story, a history that is woven into its design, making our creations more than just furniture – they become heirlooms.

We recently made a significant addition to our workshop that I am thrilled to share. We acquired a state-of-the-art laser engraver, which has expanded our offerings to include customization. This new capability allows us to add intricate designs, personalized messages, and detailed imagery to our pieces, providing our clients with even more options to make their furniture truly unique. Whether it’s a custom dining table with a family crest or a bespoke bookshelf with a favorite quote, the possibilities are endless.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I’ve found that grit, curiosity, and networking were the three qualities that really made a difference in my journey. If you’re just starting out, here are some things you can do to develop or enhance these qualities:

1. Try new activities that challenge you and take you out of your comfort zone.
2. See setbacks as chances to learn and keep going even when things get tough.
3. Make time every week to learn something new. Read books, articles, and take courses related to your field, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
4. Go to industry events and look for mentors. Building a network of supportive, knowledgeable contacts can give you great insights and help you grow.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who values craftsmanship, originality, and sustainability. They appreciate the beauty of natural materials and understand the unique character that handcrafted pieces bring to their space.
