Meet Renae Johnson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Renae Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Renae below.

Hi Renae, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

I’ve always believed in the power of generosity. With a heart full of empathy, I see every blessing and gift from God as an opportunity to give back. Whether it’s time, resources, or compassion, I’m committed to pouring those blessings back into my community. Through this spirit of giving, I’ve watched my volunteers embrace the same passion—creating a ripple effect of kindness and service that continues to grow.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Renae Johnson, and I’m the proud Founder of Women Serving Others, a faith-based nonprofit devoted to uplifting our community through service. Our mission is simple yet powerful — to be the hands and feet of Jesus by providing compassionate volunteers to support other nonprofits in need.

Each month, our incredible team partners with six to seven organizations, giving our volunteers the opportunity to serve causes that deeply move them. From feeding families to supporting shelters and community drives, every act of kindness adds up to lasting impact.

Beyond volunteering, Women Serving Others also hosts three major donation drives each year, collecting and distributing essential items to five to seven nonprofits that need them most.

Serving our community day in and day out has been a life-changing journey — not only for me, but for everyone who has joined this mission. Together, we’re proving that when women come together to serve with love and purpose, hearts are touched, lives are changed, and our entire community shines brighter.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Starting a nonprofit can be challenging, but I knew from the beginning that success would require more than strategy—it would take heart. For me, that meant loving my community unconditionally and being willing to serve wherever there was a need. From lending a helping hand to making a lasting impact in both our community and the lives of my volunteers, these core values have guided every step of my journey. They’ve been my foundation since day one—and they will continue to be the driving force behind everything I do.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

One of the biggest challenges we’re currently facing is the growing number of nonprofits in need of volunteers—often all at the same time. To overcome this, my focus is on expanding our volunteer base and developing strong, passionate leaders within our organization. By empowering more people to serve and lead, we can continue to meet the rising demand and increase the number of nonprofits we’re able to support each month. It’s an exciting season of growth, and we’re determined to rise to the challenge together!
