Meet Renay and Sade Moore

We were lucky to catch up with Renay and Sade Moore recently and have shared our conversation below.

Renay and Sade, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Coming from very humble beginnings and moving from a small town to a big city, you encounter a lot more diversity than you may be used to, so yes, you will find yourself being the only one in the room at times. I usually take this opportunity to be the best version of myself and let my light shine. My presence matters. -Renay

I learned to be successful even when I am the only one in the room by doing my inner work when I’m alone. When you accept everything about yourself, you don’t really care what others may think about you in spaces where you’re the only one who looks like you. It’s about accepting yourself first and being confident in the skin you’re in. -Sade

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Some may say I am a jack of all trades; I have been so versatile when it comes to career paths. -Renay

I am a multimedia journalist, author, and content creator. The most exciting thing about what I do is my creativity and creative control. I love bringing my ideas and concepts to life. Stay tuned for all our latest creative work via our social media pages! -Sade

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that have kept us are prayer, patience, and humbleness. Others may judge and say all kinds of things to deflate a person’s character, but if you stay true to yourself, you will continue to be blessed while they run with their lies and gossip. The advice I will give to other folks is to never judge and gossip; stay focused on your own goals and plans. Everyone has only one life to live in this realm, so make it count. -Renay&Sade

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The Bible, lol. No, really, God Jesus Christ has played an important role in our lives. God has truly been our refuge. The most vulnerable wisdom we have gained from the Bible scriptures has been Philippians 4:13 NKJV.

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

and “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ‘” —Jeremiah 29:11.
