Meet Reneé/Reneé The Entertainer

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Reneé/Reneé The Entertainer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Reneé/Reneé The Entertainer below.

Hi Reneé, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?

My generosity definitely comes from my mom. I was raised by a very kind spirit and have been blessed to learn that the greatest gift is GIVING. And finding the balance when you need to give back to yourself. You have to water your own roots too. And being a mother myself I’ve learned generosity and sacrifice sometimes go hand in hand. As healers & empaths we often give our energy, time and life force to others regardless of the heavy roll it takes on us personally. In a season of giving it’s also important to have some boundaries in place.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I grew up as a homeschooled, pastor’s daughter. I used to bike to the nearest library just to pick out old CDs and find the latest music because I wasn’t allowed to listen to the radio. I’d say before I really connected with people I connected with music. I’m sort of a nerd so I used to read the dictionary for fun and I always had a love for poetry so once I learned how to play the piano & guitar songwriting came natural. Everyone in my family is musical and can sing so being in an environment with other creatives feels like home.

I love sharing my stories and experiences through the music I make. I put a little piece of me in each record so when I released my debut album “Midnight Vibes Collection” I think it was a way to show my fans where I’m coming from and ways that life has molded me and finely tuned my talents over the years. I also have a dance background so one of my big goals is to incorporate more visuals for my songs. I’m proud of the 2 music videos I have out now for “I Won’t Hold Back” & “Salt” but as a creative I’m always thinking of ways to elevate my performances in front of the camera and of course when I’m singing live.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. I think if you’re just a singer or musician it’s important to write your own music and develop your song writing skills. It’s cool learning covers and putting your own spin on them but there’s something special about singing your own work. I actually sing differently when I feel a personal connection to the songs.

2. If you’re a true singer-songwriter like myself you’ll see quickly it’s beneficial to learn how to record yourself. I built up my home studio during the pandemic in 2020 and primarily record myself now. It’s so convenient and I strongly encourage fellow singers/artists to do the same. It’s been much easier for me to flow and create these past few years because I don’t have to wait on someone else.

3. It’s important to have resilience. Not every song is going to be your best work. But it’s still important to jot down and flesh out some of those ideas. There may be seasons where you’re simply not inspired or have writers block and those are the times when creativity feels like something between a muscle and a lung. Songwriting is something you can practice/exercise while also flowing, breathing life into a story, or even just sharing raw emotions. I would say be patient with the overall creative process and build your music catalog. They say art isn’t finished until it’s shared so 2024 is going to bring out some new music I’ve been waiting to release. I’m excited to share my upcoming projects with y’all soon.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My dad and I have a special relationship and I credit him for alot of my skills and qualities. He’s one of my biggest fans and is usually dancing around the house singing my lyrics which is always an amazing feeling. I’ve been through a lot of life altering traumas like most of us but I’m very blessed to have the support of both of my parents and that stability has granted me my success. And laid the foundation for my future success.
