We recently connected with Renee Walters and have shared our conversation below.
Renee , thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I used to be paralyzed, I fell 15ft out of an attic. I was paralyzed instantly, I had to be flown to Atlanta Medical Center where I underwent 10 hours of surgery on my spine. I was told I would probably never walk again and would be confined to a wheelchair. I went through a year and a half of Therapy at the Shepherd Center where I learned to do everything all over again.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a charcuterie specialist, I own Chic Charcuterie & Catering. We teach the art and origin of charcuterie, and we also host charcuterie workshops and wine pairings.
I love what I do because it helps with my anxiety, and I get to be creative. It puts me in a good mood lol
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Definitely my creativity, after my accident I wasn’t able to go back to my retail management job so I had to use my creativity to generate income. Self determination and my will power to get back to my old self before my injury.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting”
“Its one thing to feel you are on the right path, but it’s another to think that yours is the only path”
