Meet RETI

We were lucky to catch up with RETI recently and have shared our conversation below.

RETI, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
By being able to block outside noise. Sometimes a lot of distractions are caused by your environment or surroundings. I learned to find what motivates me by doing & seeing different things. My self esteem grew when my confidence grew. I always knew i had talent writing music & rhymes. To be able to share it i had to believe that somebody wanted to hear what i had to say. That’s where my confidence came in. My self esteem got stronger when i realized that i had what it takes to deliver with my craft and create a visual for the listener. Confidence can get you so far but if you can’t control your self esteem then that can lower your confidence. It’s easy to get distracted and get caught off guard. But the more confidence you build by reassuring yourself that you’re on the right track can help boost your confidence & self esteem!

Self esteem is like wall street always up or down. Highs & lows. Good times bad times. That can easily make your frequency higher or lower. You can keep your self esteem high only if you’re able to keep your confidence high don’t let the high or lows distract you stay leveled at all times. That comes with a lot of focus & practice especially for me so i been training myself for years how to build my confidence & keep my self esteem high at all times no matter what i’m going through whether good or bad!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a hip hop artist based out of Atlanta. My artist name is RETI and my music label is Stargazer Musik Group. It started as an idea back in 2008 in a loft in Downtown Atlanta, Ga. It became official in 2012 when i dropped a tape called It Ain’t Hard To Tell that’s when the vision of the logo and brand came to fruition. I’ve been consistently putting out music since then. Whats special & exciting is being able to put out dope quality music because a lot of these dudes out here now is trash. I have over 4 million streams right now so my music moving on some underground king type vibe lol. Im working on a new project now and it should be coming out soon!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The best quality i have is my consistency! To continue to put out music is definitely something that im proud of. Being able to find motivation especially when the climate of hip hop is so watered down and there’s a lot of garbage out. Keeping my composure is something i pride myself in i do feel like it’s a skill. Sometimes i be wanting to let some people know they music trash but i be like nah let me chill. My best advice is stay in your lane find your creativity and put out quality don’t follow social media or what’s trendy.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
That’s a good question. They did a lot for me. Who they are definitely played apart in who i am. They’re both influential to me business wise & spiritually. I took a lot of notes from them in order to understand who i am.
