Meet Reuben Walton

We recently connected with Reuben Walton and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Reuben, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I developed my resilience from going through many dark and intense situations in my life and knowing that there’s always tomorrow. This resilience ties into my determination and work ethic. When I want something, I’m willing to put in the work, no matter how long it takes, even if it takes my whole life.

Key moments that highlight my resilience include my various schooling situations, deciding to live in LA, and moving back and forth between Falmouth, MA, and Los Angeles, CA, from 2015 to 2022. I’m still planning to leave as soon as possible, and I never give up because I know where I belong.

I’ve faced social difficulties from an early age due to being on the spectrum and being gay in a small, close-minded town. In 10th grade, I realized that if I wanted to study music in college, I had to excel in high school. Since then, I’ve had many similar epiphanies: “I want this, so I must do that.” This mindset is ingrained in me. I can’t accept defeat, so I keep going, no matter what, even if it sounds cliché.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a fun-loving Indie Soul artist from Massachusetts. I write about my life and experiences as a gay man on the spectrum, overcoming adversity and navigating this crazy world the best way I know how. I bring a unique perspective to my music because of my diverse influences. I listen to everything and incorporate it all into my music.

This summer, I’m on tour around New England with The Zyg 808 through February 2025. Stop by one of our shows, and you’ll understand why I’m the next big thing! Visit fanlink.tv/reubenwaltonmusic for updates, and be on the lookout for my upcoming singles: “Dim My Light,” “213,” “Let That Sink In,” “Better Than Nothing,” and “Never Back Down.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been most impactful on my journey have been my optimism, my innate sense of relative pitch, and my stubbornness in pursuing what I want even when nothing was happening for me in my career.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m looking for some awesome indie soul, pop, R&B, and dance producers to collaborate with, co-write songs with, and play shows with. If you’re passionate about music and excited to do big things together, let’s connect!
