Meet Ria Patel

We recently connected with Ria Patel and have shared our conversation below.

Ria, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Often being the only one in the room who looks like me has pushed me to find strength in my difference. Early on, I realized that while it could feel isolating, it was also a powerful opportunity to bring a unique perspective, empathy, and add value in ways that others might not see. I’ve learned to approach those moments with preparation, confidence, and authenticity, letting my knowledge and work ethic speak for me while staying true to who I am and where I come from.

As a nurse, I’ve been in many situations where representation was limited, but I focused on building trust through competence and compassion. I remind myself that being different doesn’t mean being less; it often means being able to lead with fresh ideas and create space for others to feel seen. What once felt like a challenge has become a source of strength, motivating me to lead with excellence and open doors for those who come after me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a nurse and business owner with a strong passion for innovating and improving the future of wellness. My journey has been shaped by both clinical practice and entrepreneurship, and I love bringing those two perspectives together.

I own a mobile wellness and IV hydration business that allows me to integrate both my background as a nurse with my passion for preventative health. We provide personalized vitamin infusions, NAD therapy, iron infusions, and other treatments that help people feel their best. What excites me most about this work is the immediate, tangible impact we can have on someone’s energy, health, and overall well-being. Every session is an opportunity to empower clients to take control of their health, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive changes- physically, mentally, and emotionally. Being able to use my nursing expertise to care for people in this proactive, personalized way is what makes this work truly special.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe the three most important qualities are resilience, adaptability, and empathy. Resilience is essential because challenges and setbacks are inevitable, whether in healthcare or business, and it’s the ability to keep moving forward that defines success. Adaptability is just as important, because circumstances often change, and being able to learn quickly and adjust allows you to find solutions when things don’t go as planned. Finally, empathy is key as it has shaped the way I connect with people. By genuinely listening to and understanding people’s needs, you build trust and make stronger, more informed decisions.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to lean into experiences that push you outside your comfort zone to strengthen resilience, stay curious and open to feedback to grow adaptability, and practice active listening to develop empathy. In my own journey, these three qualities have been the foundation that helped me serve others while building something meaningful.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was move to America to create better opportunities for our family. Watching them work tirelessly, often making sacrifices, taught me the value of hard work, perseverance, and resilience. Their example showed me that dedication and determination can open doors, and it inspired me to pursue my own path with purpose — from my career in nursing to building The Vitamin Bar. Their courage and commitment continue to motivate me to push forward, lead with integrity, and create opportunities not just for myself, but for others as well.
