Meet Rian Knight

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rian Knight. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rian, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

I like to put out good energy and positivity in the universe. My mantra is that life is already hard enough, so we should all be very mindful of how we interact with and care for one another. Especially throughout my journey of moving to California from Florida as a teen, I received an abundance of love, advice, support, and resources from multiple people and that also really shaped my perspective of what it means to be a part of community. I’m grateful to be able to give and receive. As I continue to grow and learn, I aspire to showcase this attribute through all my means of expression, whether it be through my music, fashion, advocacy, etc.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. I’ve always been a fan of writing, especially poetry, and my english teacher in high school encouraged me to pursuing songwriting. At this point, I already had a few years of piano lessons under my belt but I had never really considered pursuing music professionally. When I was younger, I used to make beats on an XR20 drum machine all the time. I was always enamored with music, but it was a gradual journey to build the confidence that I could dream and achieve my goals in regard to my musicianship and artistry. I picked up the guitar back in 2020 with the help of a guitar lesson scholarship provided by Juno the Artist. That helped a lot with building my foundation on that instrument and I picked up bass earlier this year! I love being able to play and explore new sounds as well as learn my favorite songs. As an artist, it is a very rewarding experience to share my voice/message with others on stage and have fun with my instruments! 2024 has been my first year of seriously performing and releasing music so I’m excited to see where things take me! I released my first single, “Show You,” on all platforms back in September and I plan on dropping another song soon before the year ends!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’ve exhibited a lot of patience and understanding that great things take time. I’m still really new to this journey and industry, but I trust in God and know that as long as I continue on my path with grace and consistency, everything else will fall into place. I also would like to note that I’m very at peace with the fact that everything is temporary, good and bad. It helps me with navigating life and getting through ruts.

I would tell others to just keep going and make sure to show up for themselves through performing and being there for others! In my experience, that’s been one of the most impactful decisions I’ve made because it allowed me to show promoters and artists that I was available for future gigs and opportunities but also let my peers know that I will support them as well! It’s helpful to keep your name in rooms that you aren’t physically in. Every journey is different, but despite not having a lot of released music, I really enjoy performing a mix of my own music and covers just to get experience.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I am definitely looking to collaborate with others! I am always down to hop on a song as a feature or add some instrumentation to a track. I also love performing with other singers who are searching for a live band or to play an acoustic set. I’m very open to collaboration across genres, though I do have a special love for RNB! You can connect with me through social media, my handle on most platforms is @luvingrian!
