Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rica Dee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rica, thank you so much for making time for us today. We’re excited to discuss a handful of topics with you, but perhaps the most important one is around decision making. The ability to make decisions is a key requirement for anyone who wants to make a difference and so we’d love to hear about how you developed your decision-making skills.
I developed my decision making skills by saying “OWTFDWIT.” That acronym has recently changed my life. I won’t spell it out, but for those who know, you know. When you throw your hands up and let your intense gut feeling take over, many times it can be the right decision. Your gut instinct is the energy inside, that already knows the answer. It is up to us to either follow it or follow someone else’s decisions. By following my own decision, I can live with myself knowing I did it my way. And if the decision turns out to be wrong, at least there was a lesson learned and growth happened amongst it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I have been a licensed esthetician since 2015 and believe in what nature has to offer. Creating a natural skincare brand like Vth. SKIN, has been incredible. It is empowering to help others heal their skin and witness their joy when they feel they’ve finally found a product specifically for them. When you look good, you feel good. When you feel good, you look good. Outside of skincare, my next project is owning a food truck. Feeding hungry bellies is my main passion. Nourishing customers of all races and different backgrounds, satisfied and full, makes my heart smile. I’ve had the pleasure of serving many hungry bellies, just by delivering from my personal vehicle. It’s now time for a food truck in order to serve more customers and the less fortunate.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One quality I admire in others, and forced myself to obtain, is patience. Slapping a label on a product is one thing. Having the knowledge, the drive, and the skill behind the product, is another. It has taken time and patience to study the ingredients I use. I would advise anyone who wants to have any product, whether skincare, food, clothing etc., should ALWAYS do their research and test products. Getting licensed isn’t always mandatory, but it definitely helps. It means you’ve put the blood, sweat, and tears into learning and improving your passion.
The next two important qualities would be integrity and supporting others. Who are you when no one is looking? Can people count on you to be the best version of yourself and your product? Do you support others in their wants and dreams? Do you support others in helping to guide them to also be the best version of themselves?
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The largest area of growth I’ve had in the last 12 months is learning to love myself again. Appreciating the lessons I’ve learned throughout life without regret, without beating myself up over mistakes I’ve made, and being ok with not being perfect. Playing “victim” in life is not living. There is beauty in the journey of mistakes. If everything was perfect, life would be boring. There would be no growth. One thing we ALL have in common, is we will forever make mistakes. But how we handle the mistakes is what matters. This year, I’ve learned to forgive myself and others. ALL of us are on the path of just being human with a little dash of magic. Let’s be patient with each other in knowing that.
