Meet Richelle Mclaughlin

We were lucky to catch up with Richelle Mclaughlin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Richelle, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I have been able to develop my confidence and self-esteem through trial and error. I believe that “going for it” and failing allows me to learn. The more I learn the more confidence I develop, I truly believe I have the ability to figure anything out. I don’t think I have to have to whole process figured out before starting.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I help people, professionally and personally, to live life with passion and purpose. If you have dreams and goals but don’t know how to get started or maybe you know what you want but don’t have enough energy or time to make it happen, that’s where I can help. Through my 40 years experience in the beauty industry and as Certified High Performance coach I provide the tools and strategies that help you overcome the obstacles that can get in the way of you reaching for your highest potential.

I am passionate about shifting the traditional “hairdresser” mindset. I truly believe that we are blessed to serve a community of clients and also deserve to thrive, not just survive. Watching my clients breakthrough their own barriers to be able to create a career and home life they only dreamed of is beyond rewarding to me.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities that have impacted my journey would be: 1. My ability to be flexible. While it is imperative to create a final destination it is just as important to be open to additional opportunities or forks in the road. I have strong faith that I will always be put exactly where I need to be to be a the best service.
2. I have the courage to “go for it.” It’s not always easy and things never go as expected. But if you can take that first step you are on your way. Seeing “failure” as a learning opportunity and being humble and grateful along the way.
3. I make strong connections with others. Building relationships is second nature to me.

The biggest piece of advice I would offer is to always be open to learn something new. Strategically seek out knowledge from as many sources as you can. Make a plan, break it down, stay focused, give your self grace and enjoy the journey. Be patient, if you show up even for 10 minutes each day working towards you goal, you will eventually get there or something else better.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

The ideal client for me is someone a professional beauty provider who is ready to do the work it takes to get to the next level. Someone who is ready and willing to change how they approach each day. Thinking outside the box and trying a path that very few people in the beauty industry have gone through.

If reaching top level success while maintaining your health and relationships is important to you, then you are my ideal client.
