Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rick Ochoa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rick, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I have always been a leader and not a follower. I knew at a young age that I wanted to work for myself and have my own company, because my father owned his own furniture store for 18 years that he had since he was 21 years old. He always showed me to be independent and to find my purpose in life. I knew I was going to go to college and I ended up being the first one in my family to graduate college with a degree.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I love to share my creativity and bring peoples dreams to life through animation and visuals. It is exciting how I am able to show my work through smaller companies, as well as television, movies , and the music industry. Majority of my work is animations, music videos, documentaries, and most recently editing a full length feature film that will be released very soon.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say the three best qualities I live by are commitment, motivation, and learning to take constructive criticism.
I would tell people who are early in their business ventures, that once you commit to something, you have to follow through no matter what else comes up. You have to stay motivated in what you are doing whatever that may be, so that you can keep appreciating the ups and downs of your career. And a very important thing to have is the ability to listen and take constructive criticism. No one likes to be told that they are not doing something right, but if they hear it, they can learn from it and make it better the next time. This is definitely a quality you must have when you are in a business and have to deal with clients that may have a different perspective than you.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
I started my own company a little more than a year ago and the challenges that have come up are both exciting and stressful at the same time. I have learned so much during this time about my self worth and also how to take on multiple projects at the same time and some that have even taken me out of my comfort zone. I strive to learn and push boundaries so that I can keep growing and challenging myself to grow more and build my clientele. I have acquired the knowledge to hire employees to do specific jobs within the company for better quality and reaching deadlines.
