Meet Rico Mejia

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rico Mejia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rico, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Great question! My optimism come from my faith. As a Christian my hope is in Christ. He invites us all to come to him and in return he offers us his peace, love and protection. I know with assured confidence that no matter what the world throws at me, I am safe, loved and protected. One of my favorite scripture passage is from Isaiah 43:2 which says “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; when you through the rivers, they will not sweep you away; when you walk through the fires, it will not consume you, the flames will not set you ablaze for I am the Lord you God…”

These are words of comfort and a promise of hope when the world becomes too much to handle. And we can all use hope in this world.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a fashion and beauty photographer, and my role is to help brands stand out in an oversaturated market. I create customized, visually impactful content that resonates with brand’s core audience and by sharing that content via multi social media platforms, they are able to reach their target audiences quicker and more effectively.

Today, with endless content and short attention spans, bold, eye-catching imagery isn’t optional—it’s essential for visibility and profitability. By focus on solving creative challenges and delivering visuals that actually cut through the noise, I’m able to not only create but elevate.

I’m now based in Los Cabos. My focus has shifted from studio work in L.A.—where I had a large space—to shooting swimwear and resort wear on location. The beaches here are world-class, and the ocean and desert have become my studio.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Good question. Looking back I’d have to say that the three most important qualities as a photographer are humility so as to be teachable, confidence in your lighting and camera skills to create strong work and gratitude. The last one keeps me joyful and optimistic. Who wouldn’t want to work with someone who posses these traits.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client sees me as a creative partner, not just a vendor. They invest in their brand and give me the freedom to use my expertise, experience, and vision to create impactful, meaningful content that speaks to their audience.

I now offer monthly, quarterly, and annual retainer options. This ensures a consistent flow of high-quality content finely tailored to your marketing needs.

If you’re interested in partnering on your next campaign, feel free to reach out via email or Instagram.
