Meet Riley Anderson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Riley Anderson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Riley, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I can’t pinpoint the exact moment. I got to a point in my career where I realized that I was working just as hard if not harder than my peers and that I deserved to be where I was..

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My wife and I are currently expecting a baby boy in the coming months. That is definitely at the forefront of my thoughts. I’ve been getting to travel to a lot of new places to play shows so that has been very exciting in itself. I just got to write in Muscle Shoals a few weeks back. I really enjoyed that trip. Most recently, I released a live recording of a song I wrote called “Alone.” The recording is Live from Live Oak in Nashville., TN.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Persistence- No matter you just don’t quit

Willingness to take criticism and use it as a tool to better myself.

Last but certainly not least, just be the most genuine version of myself that I can be.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My wife is my go to. She has helped me navigate through every aspect of my career and as a person. I honestly don’t know what I would do without her.
I have also been fortunate to learn from some really great friends along the way.
