Meet Rini K

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rini K. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rini below.

Hi Rini , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I truly believe that any person who chooses to work in music has to have an astronomical level of resilience. Between the instability, constant criticism, and lack of work life balance, to stick the entertainment industry out in the long haul, one has to be able to take the punches, and build themselves back up to an even stronger version than before. Everyone has their own way of building this resilience but I believe I get mine from not only my passion from music, but also the medical challenges I’ve endured over the years. As a chronically ill individual, I lived through the “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” philosophy and it honestly unlocked a strength in me I did not know I had.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hey y’all! My name is Rini K and I’m an independent artist, songwriter, and actor! I’ve been writing music since I was 11 years old and have been in the entertainment business since 2020. Over the years I’ve built my own fan base knowns as the ‘Riniacs” as well as co-writing songs for other artists such as Haley Faye Rosenthal. Recently, I got the opportunity to try my hand at acting with my debut role in “Q” directed by Iñaki Herrera, and absolutely fell in love with the craft! This year, I am so excited to make more appearances on camera as well as finish my second record. You can check out my latest single “Girl on the Internet” in the meantime hehe!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I truly believe my biggest asset is my songwriting. It has opened so many doors for me and is what truly gets my fans to stick around. If I were to give my two cents for other songwriters, I’d truly say the key is to doing it over and over again. Perfectionism kills great songwriting and often leads to writers block. However it is also important to find the balance in not forcing yourself to write when it feels unnatural. Authenticity is the key to great music, and allowing yourself to simply be in the zone and write freely will never fail you.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
To answer this quite frankly and honestly, being delusional is truly what has gotten me this far. There is nothing practical or logical about pursuing music or acting. However, even at eleven years old, I decided to make myself the exception and go all in on my true passion. Sometimes we have to believe we are more qualified than we are or that the odds are in our favor to get passed the fact that what we are trying to do is absolutely insane. At the end of the day, if something inside of you is telling you to chase a dream, its not an accident. Be delusional and make everyday your mission to make your delusion real.
