We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ripcords. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ripcords below.
Hi Ripcords, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
In the Ripcords, there are two reasons we feel confident. Hard work and Persistence. As any band that has put on shows before will likely agree, you do not want to learn the new song the day of the gig… The more we meet up as a band and practice/write/plan together, the better we play overall. We know that we have got our songs down to a T. We have trust that if one of us messes up, the other will pick up the slack.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We’re Ripcords, a Denver based alt rock band built on real emotion, heavy guitars, and raw honesty. We grew up on that 90s sound , Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden, the kind of music that wasn’t afraid to hit hard or tell the truth. Every song we write comes from something we’ve lived through, and that’s what makes it real. We’re not chasing perfection; we’re chasing connection. Our debut single “Land of God” is out now, and it sets the tone for our upcoming album, which dives even deeper into that dark, melodic energy we love. Right now, we’re focused on getting the record out, hitting more stages around Colorado, and keeping our sound honest and alive.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
To tell the truth, it’s all about collaboration, creativity, and having the guts to take a risk. You have to be willing to throw yourself into it and see what happens. The best advice we can give is just start putting yourself out there. Whether it’s playing your first gig or looking for your first band, don’t wait for the perfect moment. A lot of people make incredible music that never gets heard because they’re afraid to take that first step. Find a few people who can play the instruments you need, get in a room, make some noise, and start showing it off. That’s how it all begins.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
When it comes to music we all agree. The most impactful thing our parents did for us, is letting us explore music freely from a young age.
