Meet Rita Hunn

We were lucky to catch up with Rita Hunn recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rita , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I’ve always been a shy person. I didn’t grow up around a lot of people. I feel like my views have always been different from the crowd, and I stand by the things I believe in. My family has always had a ‘be a leader, not a follower’ motto, and I’ve always embraced that despite differences of opinion. I respect other opinions and don’t let anybody downplay mine. So, what I’ve developed is to not care what people think; just do what you believe is best for you. They might see the vision, but if they don’t, oh well. We’re so caught up in keeping up when we’re in it together. So, I base my happiness on myself, and if I’m not happy, I need to improve myself and not seek improvement from others. I’m doing things that make me happy and stable. I meet new people, smile, talk to others, go places I’ve never been, and interact with others. You have to try new things and build yourself up.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m 32 years old with one child who’s soon going to be my little assistant. I’ve been in the catering business for 6 years. I started my business with a few girlfriends, and it has blossomed into something great that I really enjoy. I love serving others and creating experiences they won’t forget. I plan to expand my menu to include different items for the whole family to enjoy, continuing to build and grow my audience. I’ll be participating in the upcoming event, Cincy Soul Fest, on July 27th and 28th 2024. Come check us out! We also do a lot of pop-up events throughout the summer months.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three main qualities That impacted me the most are

1. Self-confidence: You have to believe in yourself even when everyone is doubting you.

2. Teachability: You have to be able to learn and take criticism to become better. You won’t know unless somebody cares enough to tell you.

3. Being friendly and approachable: You don’t know who you might meet or who will remember your personality or friendliness.

Additionally, it’s crucial to do your research, study, and practice so you can have it down pat.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
My number obstacle is trying to do it all be a mother , worker, friend etc its hard to stay focus I have cried wanted to give up and just curl up in a ball but I didn’t and pushed through thanks to my support system
