Meet Rita Lampe

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rita Lampe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Rita, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

Over the years I have worked on developing a holistic wellness self-care routine. It took persistence and commitment to incorporate a daily routine that helps keep my mind, body and spirit in balance. After studying Eden Energy Medicine years ago to becoming an Advanced Practitioner today, I incorporate a daily “energy hygiene” routine consisting of the Daily Energy Routine developed by Donna Eden as well as I have added other energy exercises to this to help balance the meridians, chakras and radiant circuit energy systems daily. The beauty of Energy Medicine is it helps us take our wellness back into our own hands and empowers us with the knowledge and skills of being able to balance and harmonize our energetic and physical bodies. I feel more energized and in alignment with my whole self and feel the energies moving and flowing when I do these exercises. Along with this practice, I do some form of meditation, either silent or chanting meditation for 10-20 minutes daily. This has had an enormous positive impact on my ability to stay attuned to my inner wisdom and intuition as well as to stay grounded in the knowledge of being part of something much greater than myself where I am supported and guided for my highest good. I add physical movement to my daily life in the form of yoga, dance, walking, hiking and/or biking. Movement is meditation for me as well and also helps my body move blocked energy and it increases joy for me.
Taking time for myself daily in these ways as well as seeking out wellness practitioners for massage and energy healing sessions, allows me to do the work I have been guided to do with integrative trauma healing utilizing trauma informed therapies as well as Eden Energy Medicine sessions. I am able to provide for my clients from a place grounded and balanced place within myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

After 30 plus years of working as a clinical psychotherapist with many folks with varying levels of trauma, I realized that healing from trauma requires more than “talk therapy” as trauma resides in the body. As many practitioners have realized this coming out with best selling books such as “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk and “When the Body Says No” by Dr. Gabor Mate, I too, knew I needed to move towards a more body centered approach to healing. I had studied Reiki in the early 2000’s and then stumbled upon Eden Energy Medicine and it completely resonated with me. After taking the 1st year of Foundations training, I realized I had found my passion and went on to complete 4 years and Advanced Practitioner, Certified level. I started seeing through my sessions with clients the enormous positive shifts and the ability for them to move energy blocks that then allowed them to be able to heal in ways they were not able to after years of talk therapy and many times medication and medical diagnoses. In holistic healing we recognize the connection between the mind, body and spirit and the need to tune into and work with all these parts. Energy Medicine with its’ foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine and therapeutic touch has evolved from Donna Eden’s work on herself and thousands of clients to help us understand the intricate ways energy works and helps us with a myriad of protocols to work to balance, harmonize, strengthen and expand our energy systems which in turn has a positive impact on our mental and physical wellness.

I love that this model of healing is a partnership with my clients and we engage as partners in their wellness. I work to educate and teach my clients exercises and ways for them to work with their unique body’s energies and allow them to feel empowered to work with themselves for their holistic wellness. One of my greatest joys is hearing from clients how they are integrating this work into their lives. One example is that I lead a monthly webinar for a local Cancer Support organization, where I teach clients online how to work with their body’s energies to help calm the fight/flight reaction, decrease pain, strengthen the immune system, increase energy, especially after chemotherapy, and bring balance into the systems that have been most impacted. Many of these clients have shared how they have used the techniques I have taught them to help them work with calming their bodies down, releasing pain, and helping with side effects of medications.

I am super passionate about Eden Energy Medicine and helping others learn ways for them to take back some power for managing their own health, working in coordination with all the wonderful healthcare providers that are in their circle.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One quality for me that was most impactful in my own journey was the continuous curiosity I have for learning and pursuing knowledge. I started studying Reiki and later Energy Medicine for my own wellness after suffering chronic low back pain for years. I continued to uncover new paths of knowledge that helped me own my own healing journey and continues to guide me to learn more and go deeper with the knowledge I have gained. At present I am doing self-guided learning on herbalism and hope to integrate that more into my practice.

Secondly, I think the pursuit and study of intuition has helped me enormously to trust my instincts and the inner wisdom that we all have but often doubt. During Covid I did Intuitive training with two leaders in the field, Kim Chestney and Courtney Starkey. Both of those trainings helped launch me into deeper personal practices as well as utilizing intuition in my work. Energy Medicine is grounded in both deep knowledge of the ways energies work in the body as well as listening to the body’s energies via intuition. Intuition is a skill we all have which requires us to practice it daily and these trainings helped launch me into understanding and working daily with my intuition.

Lastly, creating connection and community with others in the “healing arts” world, finding support for exploring and expanding my gifts and talents has been crucial to my success. I have intentionally created circles of support via online gatherings, in person energy exchanges, collaboration with others on workshops, writing books/articles, and promoting one another’s gifts.

My best advice is for others early on in their journey is continue to explore, be curious, find support and community for expanding your gifts and talents, and never give up. Every door that closes means another one is opening up that is more in line with your soul. Trust in yourself, follow your deepest inner desires, lead from your heart and connect with those who will support and nourish you on your path.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

I picked this question out of them all as I am at a point in my life to reflect upon not only the challenges I faced in my family of origin but the strengths I gained and the wisdom I’ve gleaned as a result.

I would have to say that the most impactful thing my parents did for me was allow me my independence as well as pursuing studying abroad in college. I was afforded a lot of independence as the oldest child and my parents trusted me and allowed me to make mistakes as well as make good decisions, learning from them both. When I asked them if I could study abroad in Spain my sophomore year of college, they supported me without hesitation. It was a huge turning point for me to be living in another country and learning a new language and it continues to shape me and plays a big part in who I am today. I am still fluent in Spanish and have continued to be a resource for Spanish speaking clients,as well as I have participated in local organizations supporting immigrants, refugees and those coming for intercultural exchange. Their support of my study abroad has nurtured my love of travel, meeting people different than myself, expanding my knowledge of the world and creating a lifelong desire to embrace cultural differences as well as see the human similarities we have of wanting health, happiness, love and connection.

I believe I bring all of this to my practice with my gifts of hospitality, openness, and welcoming presence. I embrace diversity and inclusion of all people in both my personal life as well as in my practice.
