We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful RO-MiNA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Romina below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Romina with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My parents. They have always been hard workers. When they came to the United States from the Soviet Union in 1991, they worked so hard to create a better life for us. At that time I was 5 years old and my older brothers were 11 and 13. Moving from a different country with 3 kids, no money and not speaking the language is no easy task, but they did everything they could to work their way up.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Right now I’m focusing on my clothing line ROMi Runway. I have other businesses as well as passions but ROMi is my current baby! This clothing line is something I’ve dreamed about my entire life. I knew one day I would pursue this dream but I didn’t know when and how. When I got pregnant with my 3rd boy, I decided it was time! I had been working on the designs for the past 6-7 years but I worked on it rarely and didn’t dive in all the way due to other businesses I was working on at the time. So I went all in during my 2nd trimester and started working on sourcing factories to make my garments, creating the website, getting photos, and marketing. We are still a work in progress but we are growing and excited for whats to come!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think figuring out how to do things yourself first is important. I decided instead of hiring someone to create my Shopify website, I dove in and did it myself. This really helped bring my vision to life without someone stepping in and adding their ideas.
Doing research is also very important. Taking the time to read articles, watch videos and learning everything you need to know about your business can help pave the way to success.
And lastly, I think not giving up when times get hard. Nothing good in life comes easy, so enjoy the struggle while you reach for success.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
My current challenge is doing the online marketing efficiently. I’ve been doing facebook and instagram ads but I don’t have the return I want yet. But I am still figuring it out day by day.
