Meet Rob Davidson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rob Davidson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rob below.

Hi Rob, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

It is important to be resilient in today’s world. My resilience was definitely learned during my years in college where I mastered in the theatre arts. There is nothing like the audition process to get you started on your journey to being resilient. The amount of times you hear “no” or “try again” are never ending in that world as you sharpen your skills.

My 20 year career in high end retail also helped me learn more about resiliency and how to counter these answers so that I carry forward with my knowledge, integrity and pride still intact.

These days as I’m building my own brand as a DJ/Producer you always have to bounce back and evolve to meet evolving industry standards. Resilience is definitely a journey more than a destination. You must always be humble, open to learning, and never stop believing that you will do what you set your mind to.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hi! My name is Rob Davidson. I am a Miami-based DJ/Producer. My project is called “Robbie Deejay”. So far I have DJ’d club events, Private events, and produced music for events such as Miami Swim Week for one of their shows.

One of my driving forces in all that I’ve done tgroough the various facets of my career(s) has been bringing happiness and making my clients feel good. Music, Fashion, and the Arts are all huge influences on me and have been my sources of expression.

I have been the main DJ for a rooftop event in Miami called “The Rooftop” at The Twisted Tonic in Miami Beach. Bringing the soundtrack to this beautiful location has been one of the most enjoyable recurring events in my career so far a a DJ.

This past Miami Swim Week, a fashion designer Rene Mejia reached out to me for an original song to be played during his runway show. This was also an extremely fun project which you can find on all music streaming platforms. “Siren’s Call” by me, Robbie Deejay

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

In any creative journey, it is important to be a self starter.

Motivating yourself is not always easy so finding tricks to self-motivate is definitely a “skill” that you need.

The second skill/quality is hunger for knowledge. In the creative arts you need to dive in deep to your craft, which requires research and continued education as you learn and grow in your career.

Lastly, I would say make time for what it is that you want to pursue. These days life can get the best of you and tell you that you don’t have time. To be successful with or without another full time job, you have to make time to dedicate to your craft in order to succeed.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

In March I decided to take a leap of faith as far as my career goes with DJing and Music Production. I left luxury retail to take a chance on the unknown. So far it has been exciting allowing me to DJ different venues and having time to travel and explore opportunities. beyond the US. Betting on yourself can be scary but it is also thrilling as you know that now is the time! You have to seize the day. You took the leap of faith. IT’s time to make it happen! No looking back!
