Meet Robert Banghart

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robert Banghart. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Robert , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My truth is that I found my purpose when I was at the lowest point of life. I was desperate for change and two amazing mentors stepped into my life and helped guide me towards it with out me really knowing it was happening. Slowly but surely I bought in and saw the beauty in giving of myself and how it impacted my life as well. There’s a freedom in helping people that has brought me closer to God, my friends and the community.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the Director of Community Engagement for Crossroads of Southern Nevada the largest indigent detox and treatment center in Nevada, Outreach Director for the Shine A Light Foundation an organization that helps unhoused off the streets and into our continuity case management program, a member of the community advisory board for St Judes Ranch for Children, board member and co operator for Nicks Sober living, graduate of Leadership of Las Vegas 2023, owner/operator for Stepping Stones transitional housing and a person in long term recovery

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three attributes that have been most impactful on my journey would be willingness, compassion, and discipline. The willingness to take direction from mentors and do what was asked as I was and continue to learn. Compassion to understand that we are all humans trying our best from the place and situation we are in. That recovery is a journey that is unique to each person and to just love people through their journey. Discipline comes from gratitude, knowing that I wont always be motivated living in gratitude helps to stay disciplined to what my purpose is and what my mentors have and continue to do for me.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The number one issue we face is two fold. Silos and awareness would be our biggest challenges. I try to focus on building relationships and show casing the amazing work being done in our community to help raise awareness and continue to knock down any walls that block us from helping people in need. Working with our community partners to facilitate a One Community mindset that benefits those we serve.
