Meet Robert Rush

We were lucky to catch up with Robert Rush recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Robert, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

Finding my purpose didn’t happen all at once. It unfolded over time—rooted in creativity, nurtured by connection, and ultimately brought to life through flowers.

I’ve always loved making people feel seen and celebrated. But for a long time, I didn’t know where that passion would lead me. When I first started working with flowers, it was simply something I enjoyed. I loved the creativity, the colors, the care involved. Over time, I began to notice the quiet power flowers held—how they could lift someone’s spirit, say what words couldn’t, or turn an ordinary moment into something unforgettable.

What really solidified it for me was seeing how flowers connected me to my community. Whether it was a wedding, a funeral, a birthday, or just someone trying to brighten a loved one’s day—floral design became a way to show up for people in their most meaningful moments. That’s when I knew: helping others express love and emotion through flowers—that’s my purpose.

Gardening played a huge role in shaping that path. I’ve always loved working with plants, not just caring for them, but designing with them—grouping textures, colors, and shapes to create something beautiful and intentional. The repetition and rhythm of landscaping taught me how to slow down, listen to nature, and design with purpose. Eventually, that sense of intention found its way into my floral arrangements as well.

My love for flowers started early. I grew up helping my grandmother in her rose garden—roses were the first flower I ever learned about. She had a green thumb and a deep knowledge of plants, and I definitely inherited that from her. Those early memories planted a seed in me that would grow into something much bigger later on.

As I got older, I found that many of my friends shared a similar love for gardening and nature. Along the way, I met incredible people—like my dear friend Jimmy Castillo, a lead designer at one of Houston’s premier flower shops. He was both an extraordinary gardener and designer, and he played a major role in helping me find my footing in the floral industry.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

We recently got our FIRST retail flower shop at 5102B Knight Road, Rosharon, Texas 77583. After working in a home based studio for years, it is so exciting to finally have a shop where people can come visit us and see what we have inside! We have a lot of big buildout plans coming soon too. We have big plans ahead: we’re adding a second building, installing a giant stunning English rose garden filled with imported Japanese garden rose bushes, and a grand fountain with blooming lotus flowers. We want to create a destination—not just a flower shop, but a place where people can come, sit, relax, and literally stop to smell the flowers.

At Euphoria Flowers, we believe flowers are more than just beautiful—they’re meaningful. We’re building something that reflects that with every stem, every design, and now, with every visitor who walks through our doors.

We cannot express enough how grateful we are for the support and love we have gotten from our community, it means so much to us that people care enough about our flower shop to stop by and hi and become part of our Euphoria Family!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three key qualities shaped my journey with Euphoria Flowers: resilience, creativity, and community connection.

Resilience: Starting a business during the pandemic—with no roadmap and limited resources—taught me how to adapt, stay focused, and keep going even when things were tough. From supply issues to last-minute event challenges, resilience helped me turn setbacks into learning moments.
Advice: Don’t be afraid to start before you feel fully ready. Embrace mistakes as part of the process, and keep showing up—your consistency is more powerful than perfection.

Creativity: My love for design and nature has always been at the heart of what I do, but creativity isn’t just about making things look beautiful. It’s about problem-solving, reimagining the ordinary, and creating emotional connection through your work.
Advice: Stay curious and open. Study what inspires you—whether it’s art, architecture, or landscapes—and let it influence your style. Take creative risks and allow your voice to evolve.

Community Connection: Euphoria Flowers really found its purpose when I saw how flowers could bring people together—through weddings, funerals, birthdays, or just-because moments. Building authentic relationships with customers, friends, and fellow small businesses has been key to our growth.
Advice: Talk to people. Share your story. Lift others up and collaborate whenever you can. People remember how you made them feel, not just what you sold them.

Whether you’re just starting out or figuring out your next step, build a foundation rooted (literally) in passion, persistence, and you’ll be surprised where it can take you.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes! We are always looking to partner and collaborate with others, and here’s why.

At Euphoria Flowers, we believe that creativity thrives in our community. Collaboration allows us to learn from other artists, makers, and entrepreneurs, while expanding what’s possible for our clients and our brand. Whether it’s a styled shoot, a local event, a product launch, or a unique creative vision—we’re always excited to work with people who are passionate about what they do.

We’re especially interested in partnering with:

Event planners, photographers, and designers looking to elevate special occasions or brand visuals.

Small businesses and local artisans who want to cross-promote or co-create something unique.

Gardeners, growers, and plant lovers interested in sustainability, education, or beautifying shared spaces.

Artists, stylists, and creatives who want to explore floral design as a storytelling tool.
