Meet robin chin

We were lucky to catch up with Robin Chin recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Robin with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
my work ethics came from my experience in the 9 to 5 world that proberly only lasted about 9 months, when i would see other employees half assing their work. i would always say if you cant do somethign to the best of your abilities dont do it all cause the outcome will not be full filling knowing it wasnt your best.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
i am in the field of video production, from 2006 i have been self taught with a lot of trials and errors. creating projects that never came off the ground but gave me the experience needed down the line of life. every project is exciting as they bring new challenges and as a producer we are problem solvers so its a challenge to resolve those issues. moving forward we will be focusing on producing 2 feature films for 2024 and more narrative projects for the near future

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 qualities one should have is to not be impatient, listen more to get information needed to solve a problem and keep networking, the more people and skills available from a phone call away is imperative to perfect execution and problem solving

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
the number one obstacle we face is that jamaica does not have a film industry, we mainly have film workers and unity is not previlent in the business. only resolve i see so far is for individuals as well as my self to continue to work on their projects and find markets that will accept the product and hopefull grow the business and industry in that manor.
