Meet Robin Jones

We recently connected with Robin Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from faith-based. When you hope for the better, it alters your mindset into believing that something better is coming. I try to maintain a strong faith and know that although this world may be crazy at times, I know that great lies ahead. It comes with having a positive mindset and being open-minded about things. It’s okay to do things in an unorthodox way at times. I think that when you are fearful of something, is when you should step out and do it. Just do it. I would rather live with knowing that I tried than to have guilt for not trying at all.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am currently an educator. I have a few side businesses such as hairstylist, notary, and jewelry owner. I believe in hard work until you get to your goal. I’ve had my jewelry business for three years and I started with earrings. I then branched off into selling items for more than one gender. Today, I sell items for both males and females such as bracelets and hats. I have other items from handmade earrings to waist beads. Currently, we have our black history earrings: Queen Nefarti, Africa map earrings, and personalized melanin yarn earrings that are made in different shades of brown skin. Throughout the year, we celebrate other holidays, such as Dyslexia awareness, domestic awareness, and lung cancer in which a profit is donated to the specific foundation.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think looking back at the three most important qualities throughout my journey: preserving, motivation, and inspiration. I want to be an inspiration to my son who may decide to be a business owner one day. An inspiration to others who may have been sitting on an idea such as myself. For anyone who may want to be a business owner, remember your “why.” Why did you begin at the front place and watch how far you can push and preserve your goals with that one impactful thought?

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I take time to rest, reset, and go back to it. Mental health is very important to me, so I am a firm believer in self-care. It’s hard to focus when your mind can be so cloudy at times. Another great habit is to journal. Write out your goals and expectations of deadlines, etc. Practice mindfulness, work out, or enjoy nature. I love nature so when I experience it, it brings me back to the present. I say to take your time but most of all, have a vision, write it out, and make it plain,
