Meet Robin Kay

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Robin Kay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I have a firm belief that I can do anything and accomplish anything I want. I am willing to work hard to get the job done. I know that God will always provide when I am living by my design.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’ve spent 25 years producing video content. Over the last year, I’ve shifted my focus to social media content creation, helping brands tell their stories in a way that feels fresh, personal, and results-driven. I’m passionate about creating content businesses can use on their own platforms to truly connect with their audiences.

What’s special about my work is that I approach each project like a mini-commercial, pulling from my background in professional production while still keeping the quick, authentic style that works on today’s platforms. I love getting behind the camera to capture experiences, whether that’s local restaurants, services, or travel,so viewers feel like they’re right there with me.

Right now, my goal is to focus on monthly retainer clients only, instead of one offs. I enjoy ongoing relationships with cleints and helping them grow over time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Honesty – Being straightforward and transparent has built trust with clients and collaborators. It’s not just about what you say, but following through so people know they can rely on you.
Tip: Be upfront about what you can and can’t do. People respect truth more than a perfect pitch.

Keeping My Word – Delivering exactly what I promised, when I promised it, has opened more doors than any marketing strategy. Reliability is a superpower in business.
Tip: Underpromise and overdeliver—it builds a reputation you can’t buy.

Following Up – So many opportunities have come from simply checking back in. Staying on people’s radar without being pushy keeps connections alive.
Tip: Schedule reminders to follow up. It shows professionalism and genuine interest.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The book that’s had the greatest impact on me is the Bible. Beyond its spiritual significance, it’s a masterclass in leadership, decision-making, and communication. It’s taught me the importance of integrity, doing what’s right even when it’s not easy, because trust is the foundation of any business relationship. It’s reinforced that treating people with kindness and respect often yields better results. And it’s shown me that wise counsel and patience usually lead to better outcomes than rushing ahead on my own. Those principles have shaped the way I lead projects, work with clients, and build my career.
