Robin , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Everyone has a gift that they possess. My gift that God bestowed upon me was to be able to put smiles on men and women faces by creating a experience. The experience I give each and every client a comfortable ,safe and relaxing space to give them the perfect hair cut or that awesome hair style . And to see the look of satisfaction after I’m done enhancing their look. That became my purpose. You ever had a long day and you weren’t feeling yourself. You ever heard the expression if you look good you’ll feel good. So once you get your hair done and you’re pleased with it. It shifts your whole energy. You’ll put on some lipstick your earrings. Then you’ll begin to focus better because you’re starting to feel how you look. And I love it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I always known I love to do hair from a little girl. I use to cut my doll’s hair use kool-aid packs on they hair to change the color lol . I burnt out plenty of my doll’s hair trying to use hot iron because I saw my grandmother use it to straightened out her hair. So as I got older that passion never went away I started to do my neighborhood friends hair rather it was braiding or curling adding hair extensions. I just loved how after I was done they smiled and their confidence just would shoot up out of the roof. So i knew I loved to make pple happy. And seeing them happy blessed me. So when I reached high-school in my 10th grade year i was eligible to add vocational school on my schedule. I chose cosmetology but it was a wait list and they said i may not be able to get in because my name was really far down the list. But I had enough sense to know that God had the last say. I began to pray and I ask God if it’s meant for me to attend this vocational school and make cosmetology my career choice then let me in this program this year because I needed atleast 3yrs Completed in order to try and get my state license. And God made a way I got into the program . And the rest was history. I became a licensed stylist . I went to further my education at empire school of cosmetology by then I was a single mother of 2 I worked nights at fedex . Many days I felt overwhelmed and felt like giving but I had a great support system. I went on to take my state test past my theory and practical tests on the first time I took it I scored a 90 and 89 . I became a traveling hair stylist. That was 2012 and now as of 2025 I’m a registered buissness owner of DARE_HAIRCARE. I specialize in locs,braids,natural hairstyles and coloring. I’m located in the Mendenhall buissness center. I also sell self care weight loss products I belive in a healthier you . I also offer struggling families that wish to earn extra income with information on how to do so. Community wealth we all deserve to thrive in 2025.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

3 qualities and skills that helped me to keep going on this journey to see results were . Putting God first, passion and resilience to never quit. For anyone who maybe looking to pursue their passion. Develop your vision pray on it. Step out on your faith and trust God even when it gets hard because trust and believe it’s going to be hard times you will lose clients , friends or family may not even support you. But dnt lose the vision keep putting in the wrk .Promote your brand you will have sleepless nights wondering if you gone fail or succeed. Even if you fall off take time to re focus and that’s ok to do. But what’s not ok to do is give up.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

One obstacle that I have struggled with since I’ve birthed my buissness in 2020 is funding or the resources to apply for buissness grants or even a grant writer to even submit a proposal. So I have bootstraped my buissness since I have birthed it. And guess what I’m still thriving and growing. God has always been my provider he has supplied every need from the products i use down to the furniture I needed. 🙌 The Bible says the world is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof. That means that whatever I needed God provided and still is .
