We were lucky to catch up with Robin Marriott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Robin , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I have always been an overachiever, and seem to always gravitate to leader positions which put me in front of people. I was greatly encouraged by not only being a member of a high school band, but was drum major leading the band and also performing in front of people on a regular basis. I also have been in charge of several organizations throughout the years where I have been in a position of speaking and leading. I believe competing in speech tournaments as a teen, performing with a band, developing other talents like painting and my strong involvement in church all helped to develop my confidence and self-esteem.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Years ago I decided to utilize my degrees, life experiences and knowledge of different markets by turning my frustrations of dealing with companies that didn’t know how to interact with customers and patients by starting a business. This business consists of observing a company or medical practice (sometimes temporarily incognito), studying sales data and trends then making presentations to companies, owners and providers that give strategies and techniques to increase ROI, improve office morale and stress techniques that earn client/patient trust. This consists of different techniques which includes individual coaching, group speaking, lunch and learns, follow up visits and many other individualized strategies. It is extremely rewarding to teach individuals, groups, businesses and medical providers updated etiquette (manners) and watch many things improve including money, thus my company name Manners Mean Money. I personalize every situation, one time keynote speaking for different age groups and businesses, secret shopping/secret patient with analysis, individualized coaching and many other techniques. It is always fun and exciting to utilize humor and real life examples with updated manners to watch businesses and practices improve their fun factor and client/patient experience.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe that three areas that have been impactful for my business are having an eye for detail, strong desire to constantly increase my emotional quotient (EQ) which is an important technique to model and share, and the love of speaking/presenting/using creative techniques to present the importance of turning manners into money.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client would be a Medical Provider, CEO, business owner or someone that has interaction with others, leads others or in a position of leadership. Large groups of different ages, businesses and personalities are also an ideal client for me speaking in a keynote situation.
