Robin, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I got my work ethic from my dad. He was a very hard, determined worker!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a hairstylist of 22yrs and I still love what I do. I specialize in healthy hair and I love to make ladies look and feel good. My salon is called Salon Chocolate Rose’ and I’ve created an atmosphere that I and my clients love to come relax and enjoy! Whether you’ve had a long day or getting ready for your wedding or birthday you will leave feeling refreshed and beautiful! Although my focus is healthy hair, I specialize in color and silk presses on relaxer free hair. I still do just about everything when it comes to styling but if it will jeopardize the integrity of your hair you will hear a NO! I’m always so excited when a client give me creative flow it let’s me know that they trust me fully and they are more excited than me! I’m so excited about a few future opportunities and projects so please stay tuned!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back some of my most impactful moments that help me to grow 1 was failure! It gave me more interest to learn and master whatever it was I failed at. For example it taught me how to not give up and continuously improve. My parents always taught us to never stop learning work hard and treat people right, so if something didn’t work out dust yourself off and try again. 2 It was very important to me to have good communication skills, LISTENING to get an understanding of what people are saying. That has definitely brought me far in my entrepreneurial journey. It builds trust and is very beneficial in any relationship that you may encounter through out your life. Listening also gives you an opportunity to take customer service to another level! 3. Customer Service is top priority for me and my businesses! I want my clients to feel like they’ve had an experience with me. One they can’t do without so the add it in their budget. Everyone deserves to have royal experience! My advice for anyone just starting out would be to not give up! Don’t let slow days discourage you, use that free time to learn and grow your business. Move legitimately and efficiently! Always always treat people right and be fair.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing I learned from both parents was how to pray! My relationship with God has gotten me thus far and those same teachings I’ve instilled in my children. Being prayerful has shown me how to love, show grace and trust that I can make it through anything.
