Meet Robyn Crowell

We recently connected with Robyn Crowell and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Robyn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I believe each of us is born with a tiny seed in our heart that was planted by Our Creator. That seed, grows a ‘gift’ that was given to each of us and in that seed lies the answer to our purpose.

I knew, as a child, that creating art was a part of my purpose. My mother, who is also an artist, put a brush in my hand at 5 yrs old. It was the beginning of a lifetime of loving and supporting the visual arts in my community.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a professional Visual Artist and Arts Administrator in my community for over 20 years. I also offer private classes and business consultation. My work has been in a number of Houston galleries and I am a current resident artist at The Woodlands Ardest Gallery, directed by Julie Verville.

As the Founder and Director of Heights Church Artifex, established the summer of 2022, we use our creative gifts to support, encourage and promote local visual artists in our community by providing them: social opportunities, platform to show their work and furthering education classes.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Art careers are hard. What we offer is a ‘valuable luxury’. I want to make it more ‘affordable’ for not just the viewer, but for the artist as well to help them be successful. I have depended on; strength, support and encouragement to help make my endevors successful.

Strength. Never give up. Most visual artists would continue to make art for free. Keep working. Stay true to yourself. Get back up if yoir knocked down. It’s not about the money, its about the PURPOSE.

Support. The support from my faiith, husband and family has been invaluable.
I owe more to them for my success than I can put in words.

Encouargement. This business is NOT real estate. What we do as artists is good for all of us. This is not a competition. When each of has a victory, it only brings awareness and value to what all of us do. Encouraging artists is the most important mission to me.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
