Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robyn Sims. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Robyn with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
“My work ethic comes from my life experiences and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Growing up too fast, living on the streets, and going in and out of jail, I had to learn resilience the hard way. But in 2016, I entered The Other Side Academy, where I discovered the power of honesty, accountability, and becoming the solution instead of the problem. We wake up every day, go to work, and make it about others—but the real work was always within me. By helping others, I learned to love myself again, and in turn, how to truly love. Integrity is everything to me now. Living up to the best version of myself means keeping promises, having strong boundaries, and standing by my morals and values.”
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
“Sims Motorcycle Monkeys is more than just a motorcycle shop—we are a community. We don’t just rebuild, sell, and fix motorcycles; we bring people together. Our shop is a place where riders, enthusiasts, and anyone looking for connection can feel at home. We carry parts, coffee, and apparel, but what truly sets us apart is the environment we’ve built—a safe space where people can share their passion, stories, and support for one another.
Beyond the shop, I’m deeply invested in the community. I sit on the board for the South Salt Lake Honorary Colonel and South Salt Lake Women in Business, using my platform to give back and uplift others. Sims Motorcycle Monkeys isn’t just about bikes; it’s about people, integrity, and creating a culture where everyone belongs.
We’re always evolving, whether through new products, events, or collaborations that strengthen our mission. If you’re looking for quality motorcycle work or just a place to connect over coffee and good conversation, we welcome you to be part of our family.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been resilience, accountability, and community.
Resilience – Life has thrown me some hard challenges, from living on the streets to going in and out of jail. But I learned that no matter how many times you fall, what matters is getting back up. Resilience is about pushing forward even when things seem impossible. Advice: Never let failure define you—let it refine you. Every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Accountability – When I entered The Other Side Academy, I realized that real change starts with owning my actions. I had to stop blaming my circumstances and start taking responsibility. This mindset shift changed everything. Advice: Be brutally honest with yourself. Growth happens when you hold yourself accountable for your choices and commit to doing better every day.
Community – Sims Motorcycle Monkeys is built on the idea that we are stronger together. Having the right people around you—people who challenge you, support you, and push you to be better—makes all the difference. Advice: Surround yourself with those who inspire and uplift you. Find a mentor, join a group, and never be afraid to ask for help.
If you’re early in your journey, focus on growth over perfection. Stay true to your values, keep learning, and never stop moving forward. Transformation takes time, but it’s always worth it.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
