We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rochelle Janecek a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rochelle, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I was born into a immigrant family in Southern California, and my parents set the example of hard work paired with humility. Both my parents worked not only in their jobs full time, they volunteered and served in the community helping others. As a child, we went wherever they did so we got to see and also help doing acts of service in various forms. Watching and participating truly instilled in me a drive and desire to help others. It showed me that hard work, combined with a kind and generous heart, can bring incredible purpose to one’s life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I founded the Colorado Salt Cave Wellness Center in Colorado Springs because of my deep passion for serving and helping people. With over 30 years of customer service experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, and 15+ years as a licensed massage therapist, I bring a unique blend of expertise and love for what I do to the wellness center. My journey through various industries has only strengthened my commitment to making a positive impact on others’ lives. Over the past five years, I have dedicated myself to the study of holistic wellness, Ayurveda, and various forms of natural healing to nurture my mental, physical, and spiritual health. At the Center, I offer some of my most cherished healing tools, firmly believing in their profound impact on both physical and emotional well-being. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and loved ones, creating art, fitness, and traveling. I feel truly grateful and honored to share the Wellness Center with my community in Colorado and beyond.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce a series of upcoming sponsored free workshops in our Salt Cave. Education is incredibly important to us, and we want everyone to have the opportunity to explore natural and holistic ways of living. Our classes cover a range of topics, including Hormones, Health, Sleep, Weight Loss, Trauma Tools for Women, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Cacao ceremony, and more.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
It’s challenging to pinpoint just a few impactful moments along this journey because I believe every experience and choice shapes us for the future. However, having empathy and compassion for all humans has profoundly influenced my life’s trajectory. As a child, my community would distribute food and clothing in downtown Los Angeles, particularly in an area called Skid Row. People from all walks of life lived on the streets for various reasons, and we spent time listening to their stories, helping each person feel heard and seen, and reassuring them that their lives had value.
Adaptability has also been crucial in helping me move forward, along with the initiative to learn. In my early career, I took pride in not only mastering my job but also learning about everyone else’s roles and there importance. This approach helped me excel in my job, understand the bigger picture of operations, and advance in my career.
I encourage anyone starting out to be willing to learn, work hard, and take pride in doing good work, no matter the job. Every role and every person is important and valuable, from cleaning toilets to owning a thriving business. Never let fear or others’ doubts stop you from pursuing your dreams and goals. This mindset will set you apart and propel you toward success.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed and need to recharge, I take a moment to do something just for me, something that brings me joy and makes me feel accomplished. I love to paint, create, or make things with my hands because it gives me a sense of self-satisfaction to see a project through to completion. Other times, I just need to unplug and immerse myself in nature, finding peace and energy from the beauty around me.
Doing these things helps me reset and connect with myself, reminding me of the beauty and strength from within.
